  • Peaceful pitches in a Pembrokeshire wild flower meadow
  • Pembroke 15 minutes' drive; half an hour to Barafundle Bay
  • Part of a family farm with competition horses grazing in the fields
What kind of thing might you like to see in your surroundings for a properly rural Pembrokeshire break? A river, perhaps? A huge wildflower meadow? Fields of horses grazing peacefully? Don’t worry if you can’t decide, because all three are on offer at Cudlic Camping, part of a 50-acre family farm about a mile from the village of Burton and 15 minutes’ drive from Pembroke. The current owners are the fifth generation to live here, and you can see why people would want to settle here for such a long time – the surroundings are fabulously peaceful and rural, and it’s a very short walk to the banks of the Cleddau river. The horses are right there on site grazing away in the neighbouring field as part of a business that breeds sport horses. And the wildflower meadows? Well, you’ll be staying among them, on spacious pitches mown into the wild grasses for privacy and peace. Wild flowers usually mean wildlife too, so keep your eyes peeled to see what you can see while you’re here. This is a laidback site where kids and dogs are welcome, and you’re permitted to light a barbecue as long as you’re careful with it. Facilities are on the simple side, but all the essentials are sorted in the form of toilets, hot showers, a covered seating area and a guest kitchen area. There are plenty of footpaths to wander along nearby, and a waterside pub about a mile and a half away. And although this is a truly rural site, it’s also only about five minutes’ drive from the A477 for jaunts to other parts of Pembrokeshire.

What customers say

A peaceful, tidy rural campsite in stunning Pembrokeshire, great for nature buffs & exploring. Facilities are good but basic, with a common room for poor weather. Hosts are super friendly & helpful. Some found directions tough & showers lacked privacy/were a bit grubby. Great for a chill, eco-friendly escape.

Liked Such a peaceful place. An opportunity to totally switch off and be at one with nature. Loved watching the swallows swooping over the meadow.
Mr Williams is a very kind and considerate host. He was on hand when needed, with helpful suggestions on where to eat, walk etc.

Disliked Was a bit tricky to find from the directions on Pitch Up. Could do with a sign from the road or just say it’s near Beggars Reach hotel.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked An absolute gem of a place to stay, great central location in Pembrokeshire and very accessible to get to. Run by a lovely local farmer.

Felt very safe here as a solo female traveller- I’ve been here twice now and plan to come back many more times.

A really magical place with good but rustic facilities.

Liked Thank you very much.
An oasis in a beautiful part of Wales. Central to milford haven, Haverfordwest and tenby. Pembroke dock 5 mins away by car, other places such as Carmarthen etc with 30 mins driving.
Site is peaceful, well kept, clean and grass well cut. Great communal room just in case for really bad weather and even plates, fire pit, glasses etc that you can borrow.
Owners call up and enjoy a chat and talk to you. They can't do enough for you.
1 pub(hotel/restaurant) with 2 mins walk and another 1.5 miles away.
Can't wait to return to this oasis again very soon.
Thankyou

Liked Lovely warm welcome . Everything you need for camping

Leccy, water, toilets , showers, black waste disposal, and a kitchen if you need

I used very few of the services as I'm fully self sufficient but the ehu pitches were nicely spaced. Well lived after , nothing was too much trouble.

Rustic rural campsite

Disliked Nothing really a unique outdoor rustic experience

I hope to go back

Pub could be closer 😀

Liked Pros - beautiful campsite, horses in the next field, lovely owners who we spoke to briefly and then spoke with their dad who was equally as lovely. Very well thought out shared area with mugs, fridge, freezer, first aid kit and kettle, beautiful location, warm showers and perfect for what we needed.

We really enjoyed our stay here, very cute little place!!

We would definitely stay again. Perfect spot too to explore the local area. Really enjoyed this stay.

Disliked Cons- bugs and bug babies within the shower curtain, think with the nature of a shower room being damp, in nature and on curtains is a great place for them to hide and grow. The showers were lovely and warm but you do then need to walk out of the shower to collect your towel and clothes which for me I like my privacy, I did try to lock the shared bathroom area but the lock didn’t work but also thought I didn’t want to stop other people from using the showers if they needed. Luckily I had a 6am shower so no one was around but just something to bear in mind if showering at busier times.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Our apologies the door in the shower block was not locking. We have rectified this.
We are part of Greener Camping so our facilities are rustic and nature is encouraged.
We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you visit us again!
