  • Riverside campsite surrounded on three sides by the Cleddau estuary
  • Within 20 miles of 20 beaches including Tenby and Barafundle Bay
  • River access for fishing, swims and launching kayaks or paddleboards
Pembrokeshire’s full of lovely spots, but this surely has to be up there among the finest of them, especially if you’re in the market for watersports or fishing. In fact, the name Three Echo Campsite comes from the fact that this West Wales site is surrounded on three sides by the River Cleddau, with access to the shoreline and slipway about 100 metres away. That means you’re welcome to bring along your kayaks, small boats and paddleboards for a bit of water-based action, take a dip in the water or settle on the shore for an afternoon of fishing. Whatever you get up to around the river you’re likely to encounter the ‘echo’ part of things too – the local geography means that sound travels three ways back up the river to create a three-way echo that delights guests of all ages. Life on site is fairly simple – this is an off-grid site with a wild camping vibe and only basic facilities in the form of ladies’ and gents’ compost toilets. Barbecues and campfires are welcome though, as are dogs. There are plenty of footpaths where you can get out for a walk (with or without a dog), and a shop and pub are within walking distance too. Pembroke and Haverfordwest are both about 15 minutes’ drive away for more extensive supplies.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Waterside spot. Access for launching kayaks. Lots of walks with well signposted routes. Amazing delicious food in local pub. Friendly locals with interesting stories to tell. Basic facilities but showers super hot and powerful. Easy to contact hosts.

Disliked: Rubbish over field when we arrived but contacted host and they came and cleared everything. Very apologetic.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: The beautiful views of the river.

Disliked: Booked 1 night in school holidays, but nobody else was staying on the site. We saw no one and even wondered if we were at the right place. Leaving the site the drop through the gateway is steep and the central grass area high, watch your vehicle doesn’t ground. Composting loos and rustic showers, great idea but looking shabby. We left before dark, which was 100% our choice

Bell tent (family)

Liked: We loved everything about this site, we were welcomed with open arms, owners were very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed, anything we needed they were more than happy to help, the river around was just beautiful to watch, we really enjoyed the camp fire and gazing at the stars at night lots of shops etc within 15 minutes, owners were very friendly, would come and check up on everybody to make sure we all had what we needed, or even for just a general chat, we felt right at home and very welcome, we visited a few beaches and also the blue lagoon which was breathtaking! Will definitely be back soon!

Disliked: Nothing we disliked but could of done with a few lights that worked on outside of pod etc to see a little at night

Bell tent (family)

Liked: Spacious bell tents for family of 4, furnished made it easier. Waterside location- great for kayaking shallow enough for kids to do it too when the tide is in. Simple setting Great fishing potential, but you will need a boat to get to the better spots. Camped as a group we loved it. ❤️

Disliked: Pitt toilets can get a bit unpleasant when campsite is busy.
