Lounge

  • Quiet site on a working smallholding, 10 minutes’ drive to Carmarthen
  • National Botanic Garden and Folly Farm zoo both within half-hour drive
  • Kitchen, bathroom and lounge; meet and feed the resident animals
Mingle with the resident animals during a break at Little Welsh Place – this site is on a working smallholding that's home to creatures ranging from chickens to ponies, and the owners are happy to arrange sessions where (human) kids can meet the (goat) kids if they fancy getting to grips with farm life. If the tiddlers take a little too comfortably to countryside living (and inevitably end up covered in mud), whisk them off for a shower in the bathroom of your static caravan. The caravan sleeps up to four adults and two kids, with double and twin bedrooms to settle down in, and there’s also a living area with a sofa, television and dining space for evenings indoors. Small fry starting to wonder what’s for dinner? The caravan kitchen is handily set up for sorting eats thanks to the microwave, kettle, fridge, cooker and hob, plus restaurants and pubs aplenty are in Carmarthen town centre if you’re up for dining out (10 minutes’ drive). Once your meal’s prepped, take it out outside onto the caravan’s large decked veranda and admire the views of the Welsh countryside before setting off on an after-dinner stroll in the scenery. The site is also home to a tame owl, which you can meet by organising an owl experience, and a craft workshop where you can join in with various activities like soap making and candle making. The surrounds are also full of fab things to do: from roaming around Carmarthenshire’s castles to sauntering across its sandy beaches (10 minutes’ drive).

What customers say

Great hosts, roomy vans with private gardens & BBQs. Lovely views & quiet too, many keen to return. One guest reported cleanliness problems & pet policy issues, though.

2 bedroom static caravan

Liked Complimentary tea coffee and sugar, as well as some cakes, even if there were stale.

Disliked My mrs is allergic to dogs so we booked here as the description stated there was no dogs allowed, however there was a dog running around the whole time we were there, the dog even kept coming up to the caravan. The caravan itself was filthy, covered in cob webs flies and dog hair, old food down the side of sofa bed, hairs, fluff and stains in the bed. We dropped our 5 month olds dummy on the floor and when I picked it up it was covered in hair, This caravan was that bad we barely stayed an hour, even after a 6 hour drive!!! I had booked and paid for 3 nights but I soon booked elsewhere and we moved on, was never refunded a single penny and the owner told us the caravan was cleaned thoroughly before we arrived. I beg to differ. If you want somewhere clean and tidy and fit for a young family then book somewhere else!!!!

2 bedroom static caravan

Liked The caravan is very clean and has all the commodities needed and the outside veranda is very spacious and it even has a private fenced garden (and a BBQ) that was great for the kids. The owners are very nice and Wendy took time to show us all the animals and for letting us 'help' feeding them. My boys loved been able to pick up the eggs, play with the goats, feed plants to the turkeys and having a very cuddly little dog visitor to the caravan. There is also plenty to do in the area with amazing views, nice sandy beaches and a softplay 15 mins away to tire the boys on days that the rain was too much!
We loved it and hope to be able to visit soon again.

Disliked No complaints at all!

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at Glog Farm, made to feel very welcomed. Our children loved seeing the animals and to be greeted by friendly dogs on our return from our days out. The scenery was spectacular.

Local attractions

Llansteffan Castle is the nearest large landmark to this site (10 minutes’ drive), but it’s the beach of the same name that’s bound to hold most of your attention while exploring the surrounds. It’s scenic and sandy, so it’s an excellent place for an escapade whatever the weather is up to. For forays in the countryside, get on board the Gwili Steam Railway (20 minutes) chugging through the local landscape, then hit up the horticultural displays at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (20 minutes). Close by is Paxton's Tower, a neo-gothic folly on a hill in the River Towy’s valley for walks. Ambles are also to be had around Aberglasney House and Gardens (half an hour), Dinefwr Park National Nature Reserve (35 minutes) and Pembrey Country Park (40 minutes). If the nippers have been patient during all the walks, reward them with a visit to Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (half an hour), oohing and ahhing over the animals in the Rhino Reserve, Penguin Coast and Giraffe Heights areas. Oakwood Theme Park (40 minutes), meanwhile, is popular with younger adrenaline seekers – it’s home to a range of rollercoasters and the UK’s highest sky swing.
