Glog Farm Holidays: Views from the site

General

  • Quiet site on a working smallholding, 10 minutes’ drive to Carmarthen
  • National Botanic Garden and Folly Farm zoo both within half-hour drive
  • Kitchen, bathroom and lounge; meet and feed the resident animals

Mingle with the resident animals during a break at Glog Farm Holidays – this site is on a working smallholding that's home to creatures ranging from chickens to ponies, and the owners are happy to arrange feeding sessions so (human) kids can hand-milk the (goat) kids if they fancy getting to grips with farm life.

If the tiddlers take a little too comfortably to countryside living (and inevitably end up covered in mud), whisk them off for a shower in the bathroom of your static caravan. The caravan sleeps up to four adults and two kids, with double and twin bedrooms to settle down in, and there’s also a living area with a sofa, television and dining space for evenings indoors.

Small fry starting to wonder what’s for dinner? The caravan kitchen is handily set up for sorting eats thanks to the microwave, kettle, fridge, cooker and hob, plus restaurants and pubs aplenty are in Carmarthen town centre if you’re up for dining out (10 minutes’ drive).

Once your meal’s prepped, take it out outside onto the caravan’s large decked veranda and admire the views of the Welsh countryside before setting off on an after-dinner stroll in the scenery. The surrounds are also full of fab things to do: from roaming around Carmarthenshire’s castles to sauntering across its sandy beaches (10 minutes’ drive).

Wonderful couple of days at Glog Farm! My husband & our 2 children (age 11 & 3) had a fab stay. Wendy & Hugh the owners were so welcoming & friendly. Our children absolutely loved meeting all of the animals!
The caravan was homely & cosy (brill central heating needed for our chilly visit) & lovely & clean. I took lots of extras like tea towels, fairy liquid, cloths, cleaning spray, foil, kitchen & toilet roll, but it was all provided.
The setting was beautiful! The pigs & ponies were in the field in front of the caravan, with wonderful rolling countryside behind.
Close to the beach & local amenities too.
    Loved our stay!

What was not to like ...the farm was lovely and our caravan smelt and looked amazingly clean had everything that we needed cooking utensil wise and lovely large double oven . They even popped in little extras that you may forget to pack e.g. bbq coals lighter blocks and matches for the bbq provided and tea towels
My daughter wanted to have a go at bottle feeding the babies Ethel and Ernie 9 week old baby goats and Wendy and high had no problem at all showing us around and letting us pet the animals ..bottle feeding was great fun but don't sit down lol my 10 year old sat to feed and before long the goats were all over her but this was actually super funny that my daughter belly laughed which was lovely to see the little one sure are curious little goats but i feel in love with them for this reason.
Wendy and Hugh are lovely friendly and hard working on their beautiful farm and it shows .they still found the time to knock for us* if we asked) to join in with feeding and take the tour and see all the other lovely animals even Terrence the naughty turkey
The view from the caravan is spectacular!!! straight of the caravan is a large decking area with seating and off that is a decked stair case leading to a small grassy garden with patio bbq and bench table
At around tea time the fields around the van come to life and out come the ponies Lola and Ellie in field right next to patio if you are lucky and when they are comfortable they will come to say hello huge highlight as they are beauties and in the next field out comes the handsome yosef(Billy goat ) and his girls and you can watch the happily graze away from the decking and enjoy the peace and that view that goes for miles and miles
We had such a beautiful stay I cannot recommend enough

Local attractions

Llansteffan Castle is the nearest large landmark to this site (10 minutes’ drive), but it’s the beach of the same name that’s bound to hold most of your attention while exploring the surrounds. It’s scenic and sandy, so it’s an excellent place for an escapade whatever the weather is up to.

For forays in the countryside, get on board the Gwili Steam Railway (20 minutes) chugging through the local landscape, then hit up the horticultural displays at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (20 minutes). Close by is Paxton's Tower, a neo-gothic folly on a hill in the River Towy’s valley for walks.

Ambles are also to be had around Aberglasney House and Gardens (half an hour), Dinefwr Park National Nature Reserve (35 minutes) and Pembrey Country Park (40 minutes).

If the nippers have been patient during all the walks, reward them with a visit to Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (half an hour), oohing and ahhing over the animals in the Rhino Reserve, Penguin Coast and Giraffe Heights areas. Oakwood Theme Park (40 minutes), meanwhile, is popular with younger adrenaline seekers – it’s home to a range of rollercoasters and the UK’s highest sky swing.
