Feel the need to escape into Welsh countryside and be alone? Dulais Valley Meadow glamping site offers a lucky few the chance to stay in a cosy shepherd’s hut in a wildflower meadow with uninterrupted views to the Brecon Beacons. Set on a 14-acre smallholding near Llandeilo, deep in Carmarthenshire, Dulais Valley Meadow is the luxurious and laidback springboard to escapades in the wild Welsh countryside, be it mountain biking with your best buddy or a romantic weekend bolthole à deux. Off-grid accommodation is in a cosy shepherd’s hut, nattily kitted out with a woodburner to keep you cosy on chillier days, plus a kitchen with a solid oak worktop, gas hob and fridge to take care of the catering side of your stay. A TV keeps you connected with the outside world and a proper double bed offers a good night’s sleep and under-bed storage for your kit. Want to walk and talk with the animals? The site owners can arrange lambing experiences in early spring, you can collect fresh eggs for a tasty breakfast fry up pretty much every day and also make use of their fishing rights along the Dulais River. Chances are you’ll wake up every morning to birdsong – and nothing else –and fall asleep to clear starry skies over the Welsh hills. In between times, you might see red kites soaring overhead, and after dark watch out for pine martens scampering around in the undergrowth.
