Dyfed Permaculture Farm Trust is a quiet site on a 20-acre farm 10 minutes' drive from Newcastle Emlyn in Carmarthenshire, operating as a not-for-profit trust since 1995. The land here is managed sustainably and has been growing organic produce for over 40 years. The main site is in a very peaceful and laidback setting made up of wildflower meadows, mixed grazing pasture, mature hedgerows and woodlands. You'll be sharing the place with the sheep, cows and (if you look carefully) bees that call this rich habitat home. Pick your own pitch when you arrive before setting out to explore the facilities. These include basics like a filtered spring water supply, compost toilets and solar bucket showers, but there's also a large open-sided roundhouse (with a cool turf roof) right next to the campfire area where you can eat and relax. Fancy a fire? Wheelbarrows of wood are available to buy. Bats, badgers, buzzards, red kites and owls and over 60 species of moth live in these fields or very close by. There’s a pop-up vegan and vegetarian restaurant and takeaway under a mile away in Penboyr, plus a whole foods shop, pub, well-stocked village store and fish and chip shop in Drefach Felindre (five minutes' drive). For bigger supermarkets and more amenities, drive five miles down the road to Newcastle Emlyn.

Wildflower Meadow unpowered grass tent site

Liked: So quiet and peaceful. It is as described - but that was perfect for us. Off grid, so nothing fancy but the “ bucket shower” was warm. Fantastic value for money
We had a very warm welcome and feel so completely relaxed after our 6 nights there camping in a beautiful meadow. If the skies are clear, the stars are beautiful. The walk to the village is around 1+miles down a hill but we found a great local shop pub and fish and chips. Also a great local pottery and the national wool museum.

Disliked: Nothing
