  • Family-run working farm site in the Carmarthenshire countryside
  • A 15-minute drive from waterfalls and half an hour from the coast
  • Three pitching fields with firepits to borrow; hot eco shower
Pitch up on a patch at Cwmorgan Camping, a family-run working farm site in the Carmarthenshire countryside. While the private-feeling fields are free from animals, you’ll be able to spot chickens, cows and sheep in the surrounding fields, while being well-situated for river walks, hilly hikes, cycling, beaches or some splash-worthy canoeing and kayaking – even coasteering on the Pembrokeshire coast, an hour’s drive away. There are three fields to choose from here, all of which have a mix of flat and slightly sloping areas (the flat parts have capacity for more than twice the total number of pitches on offer, so you'll always find a level plot if you want it). At night, you may hear foxes and owls or spot stars on a clear sky, so perhaps you might want to take advantage of one of the site’s firepits (available to reserve at the time of booking or with a few days’ notice and subject to demand). The site has pop-up facilities, including clean and basic flushing toilets, sinks for hand washing, a hot eco shower, dishwashing station with cold water and a drinking water tap. As this is a rural site, there’s no wifi and getting phone reception may be tricky (although there’s good EE reception thanks to the mast a quarter of a mile away). The site permits you to take your vehicle onto the fields via gravel tracks, or you can park in the yard if you prefer a hardstanding area. Of course, food and essentials may also be on your mind. Handily, Newcastle Emlyn (10 minutes’ drive) has supermarkets, a chemist, post office, an electric car charging point and two Indian restaurants, while there are mainstream places in Cardigan and Carmarthen (both half an hour’s drive) including cinemas and chain restaurants.
