  • A 20-minute drive from the beaches of the Ceredigion coast
  • River walks and fishing from site; 5 minutes' drive from pub and shops
Ah, Cardigan Bay… cliffs, dolphins, castles, rivers and green hills… Fill your boots with the best of the bay and the whole county of Camarthenshire from a base on this spacious and friendly site, with free site-side wifi added in summer 2019. If you know your Welsh, or your Wales, you'll know that Afon Teifi Caravan and Camping is a riverside site, right on the banks of the Teifi; it's also about five minutes' drive from the lively market town of Newcastle Emlyn and around 20 minutes from the coast. It's a spacious site with a playing field along with a playground for kids of all ages and a games room kitted out with pool table, table tennis and a dartboard. Barbecues and campfires are allowed and you can stock up supplies for your alfresco feasts in nearby Newcastle Emlyn, as well as treat yourself to local ales and hot fresh food in the pubs. The site has 15 acres of lovely riverside land for the exclusive use of its visitors (human and canine): take a walk along the Teifi or fish from the banks for trout, sea trout and salmon with daily, weekly and season tickets available to purchase from the reception desk. Maybe you'll catch something for supper…

What customers say

Afon Teifi Caravan & Camping gets a thumbs up for friendly staff & clean facilities, especially the showers. Campers love the riverside spot for fishing & swimming. It’s great for families with good play areas. Some minor gripes about shower pressure or the games room, but most reckon it’s a ripper, well-kept campsite they'd happily come back to.

Liked A Hidden Gem in the Heart of West Wales – Afon Teifi Caravan and Camping

We recently stayed at Afon Teifi Caravan and Camping, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. Nestled along the beautiful River Teifi, the site is a peaceful retreat that offers a perfect balance of natural beauty, friendly hospitality, and well-maintained facilities.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, who went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The pitches are spacious, level, and thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of room for both caravans and tents. The river running alongside the site creates a serene atmosphere, perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature.

What really stood out was the cleanliness and quality of the amenities. The shower and toilet blocks were spotless, with hot water always available, and the washing-up area was equally well-kept. It’s clear that a lot of care and attention goes into maintaining the site to a very high standard.

The location is ideal for exploring West Wales. Whether you're kayaking on the River Teifi, visiting nearby towns like Cardigan, or taking a day trip to the coast, everything is within easy reach. For wildlife lovers and walkers, the surrounding countryside is simply stunning.

Afon Teifi Caravan and Camping isn’t just a place to stay – it’s an experience. Peaceful, picturesque, and perfectly run. We’ll definitely be returning and can’t recommend it highly enough.

5 stars without hesitation!

Disliked "We couldn’t find a single thing to fault – everything was perfect."

Liked Clean and well kept site. Shower block is clean and plenty of hot water. The wardens are very friendly and are more than happy to help with any problems you may have. A lovely wide open site with lovely river walks and fishing if you want to (extra cost). Not far from shops in Newcastle Emlyn.

We are returning in August for another visit.

Liked Very friendly welcome from site wardens who were always happy to help. Site was clean, tidy and well laid out. Pitches were level and all quite sheltered. Very good play area. Plenty of showers and toilets, which were kept clean and always had enough loo roll. Washing up facilities also very good. The river running near the site is beautiful, and we saw lots of red kites. The site is also in a fantastic location for sightseeing, there are so many stunning beaches a short drive away.

Disliked The only thing I can criticise at all is that the showers didn't put out very much water, a little more pressure would have been nice but to be honest this was a very minor point, especially as they are free to use.

Liked How welcoming the owners were when we arrived and the warden would help at the drop of a hat, he was always around also.
The site was always clean especially the toilet/shower blocks, everyone there was very friendly. Beautiful location and the river was perfect for fishing, swimming and kayaking.
The kids loved their first time camping trip here and they want to come back, they played all day long and loved going down the river and catching fish.

Local attractions

Castles? Sorted. The ruined castle in Newcastle Emlyn is one of many built to defend this much-fought-over slice of green and pleasant land; Cilgerran, 15 minutes away, has ruinous traces of all the people who've sacked it and seized it, while 11th-century Cardigan Castle has been so well restored you'd think it was still in use. If you feel like going further back in time, spin a yarn or two at the National Wool Museum, five minutes' drive away, or hoof it over to Castell Henllys (30 minutes) to experience life in a working replica Iron Age village. The seals and dolphins have been visiting the waters of Cardigan Bay since long before the castles: spot them via a sea safari from New Quay, half an hour away. Alternatively take your binoculars when you hit the beach there, or at the similarly well-appointed sandy strips of Aberporth, Mwnt, Llangrannog and Poppit Sands, all between 20 minutes' and half an hour's drive. Antics off the sands include canoeing through the Teifi gorge from Cilgerran and walks along the 60-mile long Ceredigion Coast Path, as well as birdwatching opportunities aplenty heading inland along the wetlands of the Teifi estuary. For family days out involving thrill rides, wild beasts and high-octane active stuff, the trio of Oakwood Theme Park, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and Heatherton World of Activities are all around an hour's drive away.
