Local attractions

The Cambrian Way is accessible from the glampsite; other popular hiking spots nearby include Cwm Rhaeadr forest waterfall walk (20 minutes' drive) and strolls in Llandovery Cilgwyn Woods (25 minutes). For more arduous trails, head for the Brecon Beacons National Park (20 minutes). If you’d rather explore the outdoors on two wheels, Brechfa Forest (50 minutes) has some testing mountain-bike trails. You can observe mighty raptors at the Red Kite Feeding Centre (half an hour) and take themed wildlife walks at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (45 minutes). To add a historic theme to your exploring, try local castles at Llandovery (10 minutes), hilltop Carreg Cennen (40 minutes) or Dinefwr (half an hour), or find out about local heritage with a visit to the disused gold mines at National Trust - Dolaucothi (25 minutes). Closer to base camp, Llandovery (10 minutes) has a scattering of welcoming pubs, cafés and restaurants, as well as independent shops for picking up antiques and traditional Welsh textiles. Rainy day? Head for the pool at Llandovery Leisure Centre.
