  • Family site on a smallholding in the peaceful countryside
  • Half-an-hour from the sands of Aberporth and Tresaith
  • Top spot for clear-skies stargazing
Are you looking for a change of pace and some relaxation? Then roll on up to Trenoeth, a small family-friendly site 25 minutes’ drive from Carmarthen in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, where you’ll be on the go for your entire trip – except for when you’re chilling out in the peace and quiet on site. Trenoeth is a prime spot for basing yourself for a top-notch Welsh getaway, less than an hour from tons of the major sites and towns – including Cardigan Bay and a handful of theme parks – and around 10 minutes from National Cycle Route 47, which you can pick up in Dinas. Back on site, you can relax by kicking up your feet or taking a stroll around the wildlife pond, keeping your eyes peeled for kingfishers, herons and woodpeckers, and nesting ducks and geese. Fire up the barbecue when you’re feeling peckish and load it up with treats from the supermarket 15 minutes away, then chow down next to the campfire. If you’d prefer a break from the cooking, treat yourself to a meal (or two, or three, or … well, you get the message) at one of the restaurants within half an hour of Trenoeth before returning to site for a spot of stargazing – on clear nights, you can expect spectacular views of the Milky Way.

Power optional concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Peaceful environment on this a secluded working probable arable farm, toilet block is very serviced and comfortable to use.
Rural walking, a great place for dog owners.

Disliked June 3rd week stay and hay n haylige harvesting was in full swing, not good for the hay-fever sufferers,
the farm is quite far down a partially concrete road, the rest was so rough for modern cars.
OK for farm use assumedly.
pitches were in a sloping paddock but none were particularly level or even.
No local shop or pub adjacent,
Google maps guided us in via the golf club on the A40 twix Camarthen and StClaires, this I would not recommend to anyone let alone towing a caravan, we arrived feeling very second hand.
Our favorite area would been New Quay and although probably the nearest to the site, was not aquick or easy drive. I read Aberporth 1/2 ml, fact it's written 1/2 hr my error, our best time was just short of an hour.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments, however I do want to address some of the points you have mentioned as I feel this gives others a negative impression of our peaceful tranquil hideaway site, suited to those who want to escape and embark on a get away from all holiday as states on the write up. We are a small holding, surrounded by neighbouring farms, so the hay making is not us, like the saying says ‘make hay when the sun shines’ hence you picked a beautiful sunny week so expect this when holidaying in the countryside. We do advertise that we are a drive away from shops, pubs and beach’s, please in future make a habit of reading where you are going as this would of prevented you from taking the route past the golf course on your arrival, as this is not the route we suggest with caravans. Our track is not only suitable for farm vehicles, and is 80% is concreted, we have chosen to leave the last part in stone as a way of slowing down vehicles to the entrance of the campsite to prevent dogs and children being run over, we have found this works very well. We as owners all have new cars and have never found this to be a problem. You rated the accommodation as a 6/10, just so others are aware, you had your own accommodation (a caravan) so not sure what that means, maybe buy a new van ? “You arrived feeling very second hand” I greeted you on arrival and we had a good giggle and I gave you a very warm and friendly welcome. I left by saying if there was anything you needed to come and find me. In all honestly after re visiting the points you’ve raised I feel you’ve contradicted yourself, you liked the peaceful environment but moaned about the haulage, you liked the toilet block but scored facilities low ? In future please do your research on where you are travelling and then hopefully there will be no need to leave businesses poor reviews as this is our livinghood. Best wishes. Trenoeth

Power optional concrete and grass caravan site

Liked A firm favourite for us. Been here three times the past year. Facilities are great for what we need as we spend our days out and about exploring. There’s a little swing set for the kids which is great when it’s dry. Owners are always pleasant and friendly they come to say high and recognise us now :)

Cabin

Liked * Cozy and Comfortable: The cabin is well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a comfortable bed, cooking and dining equipment, BBQ, and more.
* Tranquil Location: Surrounded by stunning natural beauty, the retreat offers breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere.
* Outdoor Adventures: Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking or stargazing.
* Friendly and Welcoming Host: The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring that we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay.

Disliked * Lack of Connectivity: There is no mobile network coverage or Wi-Fi signal at the retreat. This may be ideal for those seeking a digital detox, but it's important to plan accordingly.

Power optional concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Friendly, accommodating owners on site. Quiet location with basic but clean, adequate facilities. Due to the rural location the pitches are not level but it was easily remedied by using chocks.

From the manager: Thank you Janet for your review.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent site (medium)

Liked Quiet area, secluded but just a little out of the way of anywhere for our liking.

Disliked Showers weren’t particularly hot or powerful.
No hot water at all to wash dishes.
Pitch was sloped which caused some problems with sleeping

From the manager: Thanks for leaving us a review, sorry you felt we were a bit far out, we do state we are a rural hideaway site, however we couldn’t be more central to Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthen & St clears-all reached by car within a short pleasant drive (no traffic) in about 20 minutes, I do believe you knew the area as you stayed with us to house hunt down here ? No one mentioned the hot water wasn’t working, apologises for this, I’m not sure why that was, as all seems fine again now? I believe you stayed on pitch 2 which isn’t sloping ? So I’m a little confused on that comment. Thank you for your overall rating and good luck with the house hunt.

Local attractions

If you’re craving some salt air and the smell of the ocean, you won’t have to look too far away: Trenoeth is 35 minutes’ drive from the sandy and sheltered Aberporth beach and Tresaith beach and waterfall, and Newport Bay, Pendine Sands and Saundersfoot are only a little further. Maybe it’s nature you’re craving? Within 45 minutes of Trenoeth, take a boat trip into Cardigan Bay for some dolphin spotting, explore Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and stroll the National Botanic Garden of Wales. History buffs will be well served in the area around the site: Cilgerran and Kidwelly castles, Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, the Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber portal dolmen and the steam trains at Gwilli Railway are all less than 45 minutes away. Trenoeth is toppers if you’ve got kids with you – not only are the beaches relatively close by, but the West Wales Museum of Childhood is just 20 minutes up the road, and Manor House Wildlife Park and Oakwood, Heatherton and Folly Farm theme parks are all less than an hour from site. Older heads who might like to have a more grownup adventure should pour themselves into the car and tip over to Dà Mhìle Distillery for a (pre-booked) tour and a sampling of the artisan gin, whisky and liquors they make on-site.
