  • Spectacular setting for the Gower Peninsula, overlooking Oxwich Bay
  • Refurbished eco-friendly shower block with underfloor heating
  • Large adventure playground
You will, of course, have heard of the great Gower Peninsula. This spectacular south Wales spot of cliffs, coves, caves and bays is so handsome it was designated the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK way back in 1956, made up of 70 square miles from Loughor Estuary to Swansea Bay; if you've never been, this really must be on your holiday list. The folk at award-winning Greenways of Gower Premier Leisure Park reckon their location is 'second to none' for Gower camping – and once you arrive there, you'll reckon they're right. Right in the centre of the peninsula, Greenways overlooks stunning Oxwich Bay and its two and a half miles of golden sands, once named as the best beach in Britain; Rhossili Bay, several times voted the best beach in Wales, is under 20 minutes' drive from here. Greenways is a family-run and family-orientated park, with grass pitches and plenty of space. Gratified previous guests have lauded the amenities as 'exceptional': they include an eco-friendly and modern shower block with underfloor heating running off an air source heat pump, plus disabled facilities and a parent and baby washroom. For leisurely pursuits, a big adventure playground is next to the camping area. There's also a pizza truck and a pop-up bar on site (these two are available on weekends in the summer or on bank holidays). Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

What customers say

Greenways of Gower boasts brilliant views & is an easy stroll to Oxwich beach. Clean, well-kept facilities with plenty of hot showers get a regular tick. The pizza bus & bar are a hit. While most like the roomy, unallocated spots, some found it noisy/busy at peak times, with the odd pitch closeness or cleanliness hiccup. Friendly staff and a great family vibe.

Unpowered grass tent site (two person)

Liked The site was huge, with generous well maintained camping fields. The facilities were great, kept very clean. We saw the pizza bus but guessing it only runs during school holidays. Check in was simple, collected our tag and barrier card from the self check in box. Beautiful location only a 5 min drive from oxwich bay. Thanks for a lovely weekend!

Disliked The showers ran very cold but I think this was due to the site being so quiet, they warmed up after 10 mins or so.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Fantastic views and a very well maintained site. Excellent washing up facilities, 2 washing machines and tumble dryers which we did use as we got soaked. 20p for 4 mins. There is also an iron at cost which I have never seen before on a site. Close to the shop and take away but the walk isn’t easy.

Disliked Whilst the ladies toilets were clean there was a very overwhelming unpleasant smell that I can only assume was from the sanitary bins. The showers are small with no shower curtain to separate the shower from the small changing section so anything hanging on the door gets soaked, you can’t get changed in there as the floor is soaking so it’s a poncho situation. The water took ages to heat up at least 15 presses of the button and even then it wasn’t very warm, very unpleasant shower experience. For this reason I would not return. The walk back to the beach is really steep, you don’t have to walk on the road but the alternative route had a lot of broken glass on which put us off walking the dog (not the site’s responsibility as far as I know). The car park at the beach is really expensive £5 for a car and £15 for a van! It would have been nice to have the option of ehu but we knew that before we booked to be fair.

From the manager: Thank you for your detailed feedback.

We’re really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the fantastic views, the overall maintenance of the site, and found the washing up facilities, laundry options, and other amenities useful during your stay. It’s great to know these conveniences made a difference, especially after the wet weather.

We also appreciate your constructive comments regarding the showers and the smell in the ladies’ facilities. The sanitary bins are specialist bins, emptied by a specialist firm, and this is the first complaint we've ever had about this issue. Cleanliness and comfort are top priorities for us and had you brought this up to our park manager at the time it would have been instantly remedied for you.

Your points on water temperature and the changing space are noted. The water temperature is usually fine, however as there was only a couple of campers on site it takes a little while to pull the hot water through. We will look into this and see if there's any way we can increase the speed of heat transfer when there are not many people using the hot water.

As for the steep walk back from the beach and the surrounding area issues such as broken glass or car park prices—these are unfortunately outside of our control, but we do understand how they can affect the experience. This is the first time we've heard of there being broken glass on the path to the village and we will pop down and pick up anything that remains.

Thank you again for your feedback and may we wish you all the best on your future camping trips.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked The area and situation of the campsite are so beautiful. The facilities are really well maintained and there's lot of space even if there are high numbers on site

Disliked Although the charging is publicised on the website, once off season hits the reception is no longer manned so the site owner has to be contacted for devices going in and out of charging. The pizza truck also sadly no longer runs in off season (early september)

Unpowered grass tent site (two person)

Liked Friendly reception and info
Very neat and tidy site
Tightly cut grass
Fantastic views, lovely location
Bathroom/toilet/laundry/freezer, rinse area, outside shower, drinking water, all excellent very, very clean and tidy, plenty of room to put wash bag next to sinks, plus dry area within the shower stalls, so extra space there which was tealky a good feature.
On site bar
Onsite pizza. Garlic bread, hotdog Nachos "Bus" which we used both nights of our stay.

Disliked Sink tap pressure a bit strong (splashy) but still better than if no pressure)
Shower push in plunger bit awkward and would have liked a little more time with each press, and some showers sprayed into the dry area of the cubicle, which kinda defeats the object.

From the manager: Thank you for such a detailed and thoughtful review!

We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the friendly welcome at reception, the tidy grounds, and of course the stunning views and location. It’s great to know our facilities—from the bathrooms and laundry areas to the outdoor showers and freezer provision—met your needs and impressed with their cleanliness and space. We’re also pleased you made the most of the on-site bar and pizza bus; always popular additions to the camping experience!

Thank you again for your kind words and practical suggestions—we hope to see you again soon for another relaxing stay at Greenways of Gower.

Liked Toilet block was clean.
Front desk service.
Being able to choose where to set up.
Quiet location.
Plenty of blackberries in the hedge

Disliked Could there be cans and plastic recycling bins?
The cardboard bins were full of general rubbish as the general rubbish bins were full.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Quiet, beach nearby.

Disliked Quiet, showers small and could be cleaner. Some sort of shop onsite would be better in such a rural place. Some option of electric would be welcomed.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Claire.

We were surprised to read your dislikes. Our shower block has has achieved the Platinum 'Loo of the Year' award for many years running, this was designed to a 4 star specification and has continuously achieved this.

We appreciate your suggestion of an onsite shop, however the reality of it is that site shops are extremely seasonal and struggle to make ends meet these days, although there are convenience stores within a short drive and major supermarkets deliver to the park

Electric hook-ups may be available in the future, however we never advertised that we had electric, or an onsite shop, so to put these down as 'dislikes' is a little disingenuous I feel.

Thank you nonetheless for choosing to stay with us at Greenways of Gower and may we wish you all the very best for your future camping endeavours!

Kind Regards,
James

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked The location of the site is close to beautiful walks and oxwich bay. The site has a great size shower block with separate washing facilities for washing dishes, freezers and even an iron! Reception staff were very friendly

Disliked Arrived at midday on a Friday, appreciate it as shank holiday during summer holidays but felt allocated pitches might be more sensible to help finding a pitch a bit easier and ensuring people don’t spread out too far.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback!

We’re so pleased you enjoyed the location of the site, with its beautiful walks and easy access to Oxwich Bay. It’s great to hear you found the shower block, washing-up facilities, freezers, and even the iron useful, and that our reception team gave you a warm welcome!

We appreciate your comments on pitching. Allowing guests to choose their own spot has traditionally been a USP, but we understand how, during busy peak times, it can feel a little challenging, given how big some folks setups are getting!

Thank you for choosing Greenways of Gower and we do hope to accommodate you again next season!

Local attractions

The stunning sands of Oxwich Bay and their fringe of dunes, woodland and coastal footpath should be your first Gower Peninsula port of call, for long lazy days sunbathing and sandcastle building, summer watersports such as sailing, swimming, windsurfing and diving, and boat and jetski launch from the beach. Around the sands, this is prime walking land: take the Gower Coast Path from the bay for a three-and-a-half-mile coastal and woodland ramble to Oxwich Point, or around the same distance from the bay to Port Eynon Walk via Three Cliffs Bay and Port Head. The wetland site of Oxwich National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, is also well worth a wander. For a city sightseeing day, Swansea is half an hour's drive from the park.
