Gently floating off the shores of the northern reaches of Wales, the ancient island of Anglesey is a splendid spot for a whole range of outdoor breaks. And in the middle of the island, a few minutes’ drive from the A5 and A55 (aka the North Wales Expressway), is Ty’n Cae, a peaceful site that puts a whole host of brilliant beaches, castles and villages within your reach. Ty’n Cae sits in the small village of Rhostrehwfa, about a mile and a half (a five-minute drive, or a half-hour walk) from the slightly larger town of Llangefni, where there are shops, cafés and pubs. Also in town is the Nant y Pandy nature reserve, a peaceful boardwalk through a wildlife haven where you can also join the Lon Las Cefni cycle route. Back at base, you’ll be settling down on well-maintained grounds that are surrounded by wildlife and greenery. Ty’n Cae is the kind of laid-back place where you can bring the family along (including the dog, if you’ve got one) and gather around a barbecue while the sun goes down… The grass pitching field is set over a gentle slope and all guests have access to basic facilities including clean toilets (some of the composting kind) and hot showers. Chemical waste disposal, charging and recycling facilities are also available.

Liked Lovely clean and friendly site. Very helpful on arrival. Nice fenced paddock for dogs to be off lead and nice climbing frame and play field for kids

Liked Loved are stay at ty’n cae Linda was a lovely host made you feel welcome lovely little quite site and lovely restaurant a 10 minute walk from the site which serves amazing food showers on site nice and clean

Liked Lovely, friendly owner. Clean and tidy campsite in a great location. Lovely park for children and dog field. 5 minute drive to the nearby town where there are some lovely pubs, shops and takeaways.

Showers and toilets clean and lovely views. The stay was mostly peaceful particularly on the second night of our stay when the site was less full. It is very intimate anyway which is nice. We very much enjoyed our stay and will be back

Disliked Only 2 showers cubicles but spacious and clean.

We were woken up outside of the specified quiet times of 10pm and 8am by other guests (between 06:30 and 07:00) but this is not down to the owner at all.

Liked Lovely little campsite,cpl of bathrooms with toilet,shower ect then a cpl of toilets between the 2 pitching fields.wash area to clean pans ect, electric hook up which is essential for us with a child, the lady who runs the site was fantastic, couldn't be more helpful..nice quiet location with a pub about a mile away to your right in the village..llangefni just a short drive away..

Disliked Not a lot to dislike about this site seeing the price you are paying for an electric hook up pitch with shower block.expect some road and farm animal noise in the night

Liked Very well located - town (and caravanning shop) nearby, pub nearby - and most of Anglesey within 30 minutes drive.

Friendly host, nice toilets & showers, plus a washing machine - which was a nice surprise.

We'd booked for 4 nights & extended....

Liked Fantastic stay and an extremely lovely host Linda! We were visited for a wedding & the next day she welcomed us to stay later as no further check ins that day, after heavy celebrations this was very much appreciated! Very cheap and a lovely place, flat pitches, animals nearby and a secure dog area, gorgeous! Will definitely stay again if we’re around the area, thank you Linda!

Liked Brilliant site. Washrooms cleaned everyday. Lots of extras toilet rolls, got water in the outside sink which also has a scrubbing pad AND washing up liquid!!
Very peaceful site with wonderful views. Fresh clean water. Washing line INCLUDING clothes pegs!
Linda is a very friendly and helpful girl.
Only downside is no wifi. In this instance it was very therapeutic and peaceful to leave the online world at home.
We are definitely going back this year. Anglesey is a beautiful place with lots of sightseeing and beaches.
Went to the pub 5 mins away, very reasonable prices and large portions!! Sorry, can't recall the name of the pub.

Liked Everything! Lovely warm welcome, tranquil location, hot showers and toilets very close and ideal. We loved our stay here as part of a roadtrip and were sad to move on. Great stay.

Liked The lady who owns this (Linda l think) was very accomodating. Plenty of Space for our large van and twin wheeled Caravan. Small play area which our granddaughter loved.
Only stopped one night but we will be back for sure.
The campsite is close to the road but this never bothered us and i slept like a log.

Overlooking the Menai Strait, Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes’ drive) is an unfinished fortress built by Edward I between the 1290s and the 1320s. A UNESCO World Heritage site (along with the castles at Conwy, Caernarfon and Harlech), it features four formidable rings of fortifications. Traeth Llanddwyn (25 minutes) is a sandy beach backed by vegetation-rich dunes that are home to assorted birdlife. The beach is sheltered from Atlantic currents by the Llanddwyn Island, which is peppered with historical remains, from Celtic crosses to watchtowers and the remains of an ancient church. Portmeirion (one hour), on the estuary of the Afon Dwyrid river, is a pretty Italianate village built in the 20th century.
