  • Glamping units with well-equipped kitchens on a quiet Gwynedd park
  • Adults-only site in a wildlife haven with spectacular sunsets
  • Close to the coast path and 15 minutes' drive from Tywyn beach
Sunsets, sea views and heaps of space to breathe – Tŷ Cerrig Boutique Glamping could be the kind of place you’d like to keep for yourself. And indeed you almost can, for this Gwynedd glamping site has only a very small number of guests on site and is available to adults only, ensuring next-level peace and quiet for your coastal sojourn. Take your first look outside in the morning here to watch the first light break over the sea from the comfort of your own cosy bed – if you’re not still contentedly dozing away, that is. A small stash of breakfast bits (eggs, bread, milk and butter) will set you up for your first day; other meals can be cooked up at your own little kitchen (with electric hob, fridge and all the requisite utensils and crockery). Being west-facing there are often spectacular sunsets to be seen; the peaceful vibe also encourages lots of wildlife including badgers, hares and red kites. Coastal strolls, Snowdonia scrambles and mountain bike trails are nearby for active days, and the sand dunes and surf waves of Tywyn beach are a 15-minute drive away.

Local attractions

You’ll surely not be able to resist the call of the sea, so get those boots on and head out for a ramble on the Wales Coast Path, which passes close by on its way around the entire Welsh coastline. Along the way are beaches for all tastes – try Tywyn (15 minutes' drive) for surfing, Tonfanau (10 minutes) for a wilder stretch or Aberdyfi (20 minutes) for three miles of soft sands (with a golf course behind for folks who like a sea view while they swing their clubs). Set your sights away from the coast and you’re looking at the Snowdonia National Park, where alfresco outings await for all abilities – if you’re up for an adrenaline boost, plot a course up Cadair Idris or head to Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park to hurtle down the trails at its dedicated mountain bike park. Both are about 40 minutes away by car. Something a little less hair-raising? Perhaps a gentle ramble around Dolgoch Falls (15 minutes away) or a trip to the Centre for Alternative Technology (35 minutes) to poke around various eco projects. Even less active than that, ta? Trot down to Tywyn to join the steam-powered Talyllyn Railway as it puffs its way along seven miles of scenic Snowdonia track.

Liked: Lovely, peaceful part of Wales. Just what we needed, a break from our busy city lives. Chris was very welcoming (unfortunately Beth was away, sorry we missed you) and left us to get on with things, all very relaxed. The breakfast left for us for the morning after we arrived, was excellent, locally sourced bacon, mushrooms, sausage and tomato with the resident hens providing the eggs! The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all that you needed and the bathroom/shower area was very nice and modern. Once the initial morning mist had cleared, the view from the cabin was great, especially the sunsets. The views and walks around the area were spectacular. We visited the wonderful Talyllyn steam railway stopping off at the Dolgoch falls. Also took the normal train to Porthmadog and Aberystwyth. Local pubs and restaurants in Tywyn (10 mins by car), provided our evening meals Overall, a lovely friendly place to visit and stay.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike!

Liked: We have had an amazing time this weekend and couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend it. We have had everything we could possibly need and it’s been so relaxing. Right on the wales coastal path so easy to go for a run along the trails and not lose your way and all of this was helped by the perfect weather we had. Brilliant hosts who made sure we weren’t short of anything, we would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing time by the coast. Thanks so much! Alex & Emily ❤️

From the manager: Oh thank you both so much for the lovely review. Was worried in the winter when the weather can be ‘ dramatic’. We both are terribly pleased that you were happy with the cabin and the scenery and it was a pleasure to meet you xxxx
