  • Peaceful family-run Llŷn Peninsula campsite
  • In a quiet village six miles' drive from Aberdaron beach
  • Modern amenities block on site; pub within 20 minutes' walk
Centrally located on the Llŷn Peninsula is a likely location to be remotely and peacefully set for a Welsh countryside stay, which is what's offer at small and family-run Criw Touring Caravan and Camp Site, in the quiet village of Bryncroes and a short drive from miles of several safe and sandy beaches. Country walks, horse trekking, sailing, fishing, climbing, cycling and more are all easily accessed in the countryside all around, and Snowdonia National Park is within about an hour's drive. If you're more of a seaside sort, Criw is six miles from Aberdaron and 10 from Pwllheli. The site's modern amenities block has separate ladies' and gents areas (each with two toilets and two showers, plus a basin, hand dryer and mirror), and there's also a fresh water supply and a chemical disposal point. Satellite TV and wifi are available, but please note that because of the site's peacefully remote location, the wifi signal is limited and you should bring a receiver for your TV if you want to use it. Criw is about 20 minutes' walk via a quiet country lane from its local village of Sarn, which has a couple of decent pubs (one serving food), a post office/garage and the village shop to sort supplies to bring back for the barbie.

What customers say

Quiet, clean & tidy site, great loos & showers. Lovely owner, nice views, good for stars. Dogs can be a bit much, no WiFi or wash-up. Still, excellent value & people want to return. Tricky directions, but good base for exploring.

From the manager: Hi Martin. Thank you for your kind review. Found out this morning why the water in the showers was cold. The gas had run out. Changed the bottle last night. All the best.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked A short break over the Easter period. We came for 2 nights but didnt feel ready to leave. The site is a great size and spaced out lovely. The toilets/showers are cleaned every day, bins emptied & toliet rolls topped up etc. Shower was great, although there's a small fee it was absolutely worth it. The owner is very friendly and likes to have a chat and make sure everyone is okay.
The views are amazing, its very peaceful, relaxing and we will definitely be back in future.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked This is a lovely little camp site the owner is very easy going and good to have a chat with everything you need is on site hook up electric and water and the waste and toilet is only a short walk away the views are special and whistling sands is only 7 miles up the rd one of the most stunning beaches in the UK for shopping there is a premier about a mile down the rd and they sell most of what you might need if you are lucky on a clear night the stars in the sky are something else overall very easy going relaxed camp and great links for the rest of the peninsula give it a go you wont regret it

Disliked Having to leave back to work haha.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked Nice Quite Location, Views Stunning
Drainage on a Grass pitch is the best i have seen

Disliked Wifi advertised but none available , No washing up Facility's but was advertised

Only one sink in the men's shower block and one in the Ladies

Nice site but very Very Exposed to the weather due to it's location

The Big one !!!

As a responsible dog owner part of being a responsible dog owner is picking your dogs Poo up !

There were 2 dogs that ever day came round our Van and pooed , I had to pick it up as i could not leave it where it was

There was a Jack Russel and a French bull dog , luckily they were both very friendly as my Griffon was upset with the being in and around my Awning. My Griffon alerted to the dogs present before we saw them

Some one else has commented in a review they are the "Site Owners Dogs",

If you have site rules stating pick up dog poo then the owner should do the same

Keep them in a fenced of Garden area

I feel sorry for people who do not have dogs having to cope with dog poo around the field

From the manager: I don't think you've been on other sites around here, where they have 4 showers, 2 sinks, and over 40 caravans. Maybe you should pop in to one some day, and have a look. As the site is being upgraded, it will have washing up facilities for next season. I apologize to you for the damn dogs, but they don't belong to me. The local council have been informed.

Local attractions

The main town on the peninsula, Pwllheli, is about 20 scenic minutes away by car and comes with beaut sandy beaches, a leisure centre, marina, cinema, supermarkets, bus depot and a railway station, as well as an 18-hole golf course and the means to arrange both fishing and boating. Fishing, boating and a golf course of the same size are at neighbouring Abersoch too, also within a short drive. It's a popular place with younger holidaymakers, who come for jetskiing, powerboat racing, wakeboarding and other watersports; the famed Wakestock Festival is held here annually. This is also spectacular hiking land, so ditch the car for a day and have a go at the Llŷn Coastal Path stretch from Pwllheli to Abersoch in one direction and Pwllheli to Criccieth – and then on to Porthmadog – in the other.
