North Wales is often a relaxed place to spend a few days – but there’s an extra boost of fabulous rural peace when you stay at Pen y Buarth. There are only a handful of touring pitches at this Gwynedd site, and they’re reserved for adults only. There may not be kids on site here, but there are a few animals to meet as this is part of a family smallholding. Dogs are welcome to join you for a break at Pen y Buarth, but they’ll need to be kept under control so they don’t interfere with the livestock. With limited guest numbers on site, there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out – each of the grass pitches is pleasingly spacious and provided with an electric hook-up. Shared facilities include water points, chemical disposal and a bathroom with toilets and showers (please note there’s an extra charge for the showers). This friendly spot is in an excellent location for exploring several parts of North Wales – it’s just on the edge of Snowdonia National Park (about 20 minutes’ drive from Llanberis), 10 minutes’ drive from Caernarfon and within half an hour’s drive of popular spots on Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula. It’s also a handy location for eats, as it’s on the edge of the village of Bethel, which has a community café serving up excellent breakfasts, lunches and cream teas. A bus service runs from the village to Caernarfon every hour if you need more eating options or shops.

Adults-only site loved for its peace, clean basic facilities & friendly staff. Great base for North Wales sights like Snowdonia, Anglesey, Bangor & Caernarfon. Pitches mostly level, spacious, well-kept. Farm animals a bonus. Some found toilets/showers and washing-up areas a bit limited.

Liked Lovely quiet little campsite, good value for money, only 10 mins drive to nearest town and around 15-20 to Llanberis for the Snowdon trails

Liked Friendly owners at the camp, easy to get setup and facilities were good. The location is quite good as just nestled between snowdonia and anglesey so easy to visit either place. Was nice to have the horses and other animals on the plot.
