Liked: Excellent Welcome from the owner the site on arrival. The site was neat and tidy with lots of tourist information in the ablution block and very clean facilities as well as bins for recycling. The Pitches are hardstanding and well layed out with good privacy and with both water and Electric Hookup.

Powered gravel motorhome site (no awning)

Liked: Site was clean, tidy & well kept. Nice gravel pitches with electricity and water. Lots of info leaflets available. Shower block, although small, was warm & clean.

Disliked: Arrived to find we had to ring a mobile number, no answer. Had to go looking for someone, who turned out to be just a few yards away but somehow didnt see us arrive. Nowhere to walk thr dogs. Only road walking off site. Nearby town run down, nowhere to eat without driving miles out of town. Local pub had no chef and the takeaways had low food hygiene scores. Ended up buying food from local co- op and taking it back to site. Back on site the midgies were biting like crazy.

Powered gravel caravan site (large)

Liked: Quiet location Beautifully kept site Small site (only about 15 pitches) Adult only Very friendly owners

Disliked: Tight entrance with quite an incline. We had to unhook our tow car a mile or so away and drive in seperately. However, we were advised of this by Janet, the site owner on the day before we arrived so wasn't really an issue

Local attractions

Even if you’re not much of a train buff, it’s worth taking a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway – the steam-powered services take in some of Snowdonia’s most spectacular scenery as they wend their way down to the coast at Porthmadog. If you’ve got an appetite for more, connect here for the Welsh Highland Railway all the way up to Caernarfon. If you’d like to explore under your own steam, there are heaps of hikes in the surrounding Snowdonia National Park – Snowdon itself is just a few miles away, or you may prefer a quieter clamber up Crimpiau from Capel Curig or a circuit of Llyn Idwal from Ogwen Cottage for something a bit less leg-busting (both routes about half an hour's drive). The site is also a few minutes’ amble from the Antur Stiniog mountain bike trails, with an uplift service that’s been tipped as the country’s best. Not enough adrenaline yet? The site is also a 10-minute stroll from Titan ZipWorld (to fly along two kilometres of zipline) and the underground adventure park in an old slate cavern at Bounce Below. Calm that heart rate a little by heading coastwards for a trip to pretty Portmeirion or a wander around the castle and beach in Harlech – both are about half an hour away by car.
