Jenny and Darren have won awards for their efforts at Tan Y Bryn Glamping – and it’s not tricky to see why. Everything at this modern and well-equipped north Wales park has been well thought out, and the owners are always on hand for a friendly welcome and a bit of local advice. The facilities here vary depending on the accommodation you end up going for, but all guests have access to nicely designed essentials including well-maintained showers, toilets, a communal fridge and a washing-up area. There’s also a wifi service for guests around the reception area. It’s not all about the facilities here, however – the setting is rather fabulous too. The park has views over the gorgeous North Wales coastline towards Llandudno's Great Orme, and it makes a handsome base for all sorts of holidaymakers, from couples looking for romantic coastal retreats to friends seeking a central base for some of the best North Wales attractions. Dogs are welcome too, and all the walking options around the area are bound to get tails wagging. The northern reaches of Snowdonia National Park can be reached with a drive of 15 minutes or so, putting lots of hikes and other outdoor activities within easy reach. For other days out and amenities, it’s a 10-minute drive to the pretty Victorian resort of Llandudno (and the railway station at Llandudno Junction) or to the mighty medieval castle in Conwy.

Liked: Wonderful site with stunning views. Lovely clean facilities in a very modern building. Beautifully manicured pitches make for a peaceful stay. We witnessed an amazing shooting star and the sound of Tawny owls. The commitment of the staff is evident and is true estimate to the site.

Disliked: Maybe a sign advising the men’s toilets are shared with the accessibility ones

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked: Everything was perfect. The location was quiet with stunning views, close enough to Conway and Llandudno. The touring pitches were of generous size and level. The site maintenance was exceptional, the area was full of beautiful shrubs and flowers, everything was so clean and tidy, the shower rooms, toilets and kitchen were as nice as a bathroom at home, very luxurious. The pods looked amazing.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. The only minor thing that could improve would be to have a freezer for ice blocks.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked: Great views, well maintained site, warm welcome, great communal kitchen facilities and ladies toilet/showers

Disliked: Quite steep/narrow roads to get there, maybe not ideal for bigger vehicles - nothing the site can do about it but maybe make it clearer for those booking Gents toilets were great but there didn’t seem to be a designated wash space for showering etc. they could use accessible showers but had no sink to wash your face in/ brush teeth that wasn’t at a low level/ was small. My hubby ended up using the ladies sinks in the end.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked: Tan y Bryn is a fantastic secluded spot with spotless facilities and lovely views. It's a mile walk on the bridleway to buses at Moelfre, to Llandudno or Conwy etc. It's a mile walk on the lanes to the Queen's Head, also worth 5 stars! Another bonus is the play area and field in the village, which is dog friendly.

Liked: View, neat and tidy gardens with fab range of shrubs. Found a fab park locally where dogs could be let off lead.

Disliked: Limited/small communal facilities. Would have liked some info on local dog walks and facilities. Pitches were not level

Local attractions

North Wales is a fantastic part of the world to visit if you’re in the mood for outdoor activities. Snowdonia National Park (15 minutes’ drive) has all sorts of options for hiking and biking, from easy routes to proper uphill challenges. It’s also home to lots of adrenaline activities including subterranean challenges at Go Below Underground Adventures (30 minutes) and the chance to fly through the air on speedy ziplines at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (35 minutes). Things tend to be a little more leisurely up at the coast (although you can still take a good walk on the coast path if you need to get your pulse going a bit). Llandudno (10 minutes) is well known for its classic pier and the chance to ride a cable car or tram up the Great Orme, while Conwy’s the place to go if you’d like to explore one of the best preserved medieval castles in the country. Tan y Bryn’s location handily close to the A55 also means you can set your sights a little further afield if you wish – the likes of Anglesey, Caernarfon, Rhyl and St Asaph are all within a 45-minute drive.
