Like the sound of holidaying under canvas with a backdrop of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) peaks? Haste ye to the Y Giler Arms, a traditional country inn just off the A5 (a former coaching route), for tucked behind the pub is a camping field overlooking a lake and edged by the meanders of the River Merddwr. Activity junkies will be pleased to hear this peaceful spot is close to the outdoor-sports hub of Betws-y-Coed (15 minutes’ drive). Even better, the pub on site opens every evening for your post-adventure downtime – you'll get a warm Welsh welcome along with local real ales and home-cooked food served in the lakeside restaurant. Hot breakfasts are also available – just be sure to order yours from the bar the night before – and there are plenty of distractions if the kids get restless, from a darts board and pool table to a variety of board games for you to borrow. Any accompanying dogs are welcome in the public bar and games room, but must be kept on a lead and under close control at all times on the camping field, as it is surrounded by farmland with lots of grazing sheep. And finally, a few practicalities: the site comprises two acres of level pitches, with easy access for towing vehicles. Facilities include modern shower blocks (one with disabled access), a washing-up area, electric hook-ups and water points.

Liked Lovely, spacious immaculate clean shower rooms. Lovely hot water, heated towel rails and space to put your clothes and toiletries that don’t get wet from the usual small showers you find.
The site was quiet, vey friendly welcome from the site owner in the pub.
Lovely to wake up surrounded by the beautiful Welsh countryside with sheep and cattle in fields adjacent. By a beautiful river. Facilities included waste disposal. Hook up available. Worth every penny. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Liked Camped for four nights at Y Giler Arms and had a great time. The campsite was almost empty during our stay in September so we had an entire field to ourselves. Upon arrival, Eddie was readily available via phone and helped us with questions we had regarding set-up. The campsite was clean and quiet, and the toilets and kitchen area were notably well maintained. Some of the more experienced campers in the group emphasised that the toilets were among the best they had seen. There were spare fire pits and chairs for us to help ourselves to which came in handy many times during our stay. The staff in the pub were friendly, the drink selection was good and the atmosphere was calm, just as in the campsite. Overall, we would happily return and would recommend Y Giler Arms to anyone looking for a well-located campsite to stay in when visiting North Wales!

Liked The facilities were kept very clean and are of a high standard.

Disliked It was quite loud, with one of the tent fields being quite exposed. There is one field that has good shelters however.

Booked in via the pub as was after 18:00 hrs.
Bought 2 x Buds 🍻 then went to my pitch, was told to pick any think I got pitch 4 in the corner & loved it.

Liked Love it absolutely friendly people in the bar
The place had showers toilets a place to clean the pots I would recommend it to anyone

Disliked You need a trolley because the cars are not allowed on the tent field
Maybe you could have 1 or 2 that could be rented out for an small price that would have been helpful And the pond would have been a good money maker if you could fish it
