  • Exclusive and luxurious off-grid glamping near Welshpool in Powys
  • A 20-minute drive to Powis Castle, and 30 minutes to Dyfnant Forest
  • Camp kitchen on site; 10 minutes’ drive to a pub and store
A wonderfully luxurious and secluded site, Touch the Clouds Glamping sits in half an acre of landscaped garden with a lake and views over the Powys countryside near Welshpool. If you’re after a romantic break for two, this little spot could be the place: it's set up for adults only, and you have the place to yourself during your stay. Eco-friendly and off grid with solar power, the accommodation consists of a stylishly furnished bell tent, with a proper double bed, storage and seating, and lots of snuggly throws for extra comfort. In the evening you can cosy up around the chiminea for a barbecue (logs and sticks will be available whenever you need topping up), or settle down to alfresco dining at the outside table. The camp kitchen is cleverly kitted out with everything you need to cook, from a stove to welcome packs of tea, coffee and sugar – plus a few extra treats just for you. All the ingredients for breakfast (including bacon, eggs, mushrooms, bread, butter, jams and cereals) will be stocked in the fridge and waiting for you to use. A nattily converted horse trailer serves as your bathroom with a blissful hot shower (great for refreshing and relaxing after a day’s adventures). Nearby there’s a compost loo with solar lighting and a hub for charging devices. Your canine chums can come along on their hols too, but please keep them on a lead at all times as the site is surrounded by sheep. If you should fancy a change of scenery, the half-timbered village of Berriew (10 minutes’ drive) offers up a couple of pubs, a tearoom and scenic river walks as well as a handy store for stocking up on basics.

Bell tent

Liked: We had an absolutely fantastic and relaxing stay this weekend. We were so impressed with all the little touches - everything had been carefully thought out. We particularly loved the little fire in the tent (with chimney!) which made it super cosy in the evening. Our dog Buddy enjoyed exploring on lead. We really liked making breakfast in the little kitchen and our host had kindly provided bacon and eggs. We’ve come away feeling really rested and relaxed - would definitely recommend this site!

Bell tent

Liked: This place is really special. A small field on a hillside overlooking the most beautiful view, not to mention the beautiful bell tent with a king sized bed and all the luxuries if home. The kitchen, shower and toilet are all housed nearby and breakfast was provided in cool boxes. We really didn't want to leave this peaceful place. Our new favourite 😍

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Bell tent

Liked: What wasn't there to like? Had such a wonderful stay, everything was spot on. Even prior to arrival the host was welcoming ensuring we reached the destination ok. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely host who took the time to show us round and ensure we had everything we needed. Including taking the time to write directions to welshpool when we struggled to get phone signal for directions. The location itself is extremely peaceful, scenic and the hosts grounds are beautifully maintained and spacious to enjoy during your visit. The Tent itself was like stepping into a bedroom, from snuggly blankets, to a variety of torches, fairy lights, woodfire, bedside amenities and a super comfy bed. You can see how well thought out everything is and rather than just being a place to stay the host has made every effort to make it a home from home. The kitchen hut was well stocked with all of the equipment needed for a nice meal! including cereals, milk, bacon, bread and fresh drinking water. At night the fairy lights really added to the experience with plenty of firewood for a nice bbq! Again so well thought out. The bathroom was also well stocked with toilet roll, womens sanitary items and was kept nice and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, highly recommended experience. Thankyou again for the lovely stay and amazing hospitality, will be back soon 😊 Hannah, Steffan and Blossom (micro ferret) x

Bell tent

Liked: We loved everything, from the communication around arrival, help with getting settled and instructions on how to use things the host was great. The kitchen had everything we could have needed and so much more, the breakfast ingredients provided tasted lovely and the choice of tea and coffee extensive! We got a text after booking so had easy contact with the host and were kindly given the option to stay and enjoy the day we checked out at our leisure, so were able enjoy the peace and quiet and the beautiful views for an extra day. Very clean and tidy, lots of soft blankets and cushions and the fire and wood provided came in very handy when it got a little chilly in the evening. Great facilities and set up. We will be back!

Bell tent

Liked: Touch The Clouds is a fantastic glamping site and experience, the host has thought of every possible thing to make your stay perfect. It was super clean, very scenic and absolutely silent. So if you're after peace and quiet, this is the place for you. The little kitchen hut had everything we needed, even breakfast - down to little pots of sauce and butter. Even though the site is off grid, there is plenty of solar lighting, cool boxes, and cooking facilities. We were only there for the night so didn't use the shower box but it looked clean. You are surrounded by nature - we even saw a Beaver walking across the site and down to the river. We would love to return and stay again. It was my Mom's first glamping experience and she has been spoilt with the luxury of it all - big thanks for the birthday touches, really lovely!

Local attractions

If you’d like to get a real feel for Mid Wales – on two legs or by bike – Dyfnant Forest (half an hour’s drive), is a good place to start on the Rainbow Trails, waymarked routes with views of the Arran and Berwyn mountains. Another pretty spot is Lake Vrynwy (40 minutes), a photogenic reservoir overlooked by a brooding neo-Gothic water tower and ringed by a relatively flat walking and cycling trail. You can also get the lie of the land with a trip on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, leading through Powys valleys from Llanfair Caereinion (10 minutes) to Welshpool (15 minutes). If you linger there a while, you’ll be rewarded by fine Georgian architecture – and if you fancy exploring another historic town, Shrewsbury (45 minutes) turns up an abbey, castle and museum as well as cruises down the River Severn. Sneak a bit more history into the mix too, with a tour of medieval Powis Castle and its spectacular topiary gardens, or potter around the castle ruins at Montgomery (both 20 minutes) and clear your head with a stroll along the Monty Canal.
