  • Family-run Mid Wales farm site and wildlife haven just off the A44
  • Llandrindod Wells 10 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Knighton
  • Local pub with beer garden accessed from the back of the campsite
Stopping over for a night, or in need of a base for a longer break meandering around Mid Wales? Either way, there's a warm welcome at Dolswydd Caravan Park, in a handy spot just off the A44, 10 minutes’ drive from Llandrindod Wells. This family-run site is on the edge of a traditional working farm with a backdrop of open common land and the Welsh hills behind. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s something of a wildlife haven, with regular visitors including red kites, otters, woodpeckers and hares as well as the swans who stop by daily. Getting out and about in the local countryside is a cinch from here – walkers can hit major trails like the Offa’s Dyke Path and Glyndŵr's Way, or find quiet local lanes to wander along. Golf, horse riding, canoeing, archery and climbing are among the other activities available nearby, and there’s fishing next door to the site on the River Ithon. Modern facilities on site include bathrooms with toilets and showers, plus a launderette. A short (500-metre) walk away through the back of the campsite is the local pub, which serves good home-cooked food and has a lovely riverside beer garden.

What customers say

Fair dinkum peaceful, tidy campsite by the river, close to a ripper pub. Owners are legends, spots are flat, great value. Most punters love it, but a few noted only one shower per block and bathrooms are a bit daggy. Still, heaps wanna come back.

Liked This is a great value campsite that we've now stayed on a number of times. Rachel the owner is lovely, and there's a relaxed vibe to the whole place. The facilities are excellent. A very short walk away is the Severn Arms Hotel doing good pub food and range of beers, with a nice garden. The best bit: if you get on one of the pitches right next to the river Ithon, you can watch herons fly up and down as the sun sets. It's great!

Disliked Nothing.

From the manager: Thank you for this, you are very kind.
Hopefully next time you visit there will be a bit more water in the river. Watching the ducks fly up and sail back down stream is a treat! See you next year.

Disliked No contact with owners at all during stay.
Pub next door looked OK but does not do food daily as they advertise, this of course is not the sites fault, just worth noting.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We are very sorry that you had no contact with us during your stay.
We were down on the site at various times. If we see guests out and about, we stop to talk, but we do not knock on all doors as we think this is invasive. We all have jobs aside from the park, so you may not see us during the day. There is someone at the farm at all times. We email out information about the site and where to go. It states that you may contact us at any time. Numbers and information are also pinned up at the facilities. Most people ring on arrival.
On the confirmation email that we send to you, regarding the pub, it clearly states ' it is advisable to book ahead and to check if they are serving that day'.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope you had a safe trip back.
