Powered grass caravan site

Liked: Great site close to Builth wells town just a few minutes drive. The site allows fires (contained within a pit off the floor) Fantastic little shop on site selling basic foods and drink etc open 24 hrs with an honesty box left to pay (please bring your coins) peaceful pleasant site run by friendly locals. I would recommend a trip to the local pub The Seven Stars(short drive) or well worth the walk ,great pint and decent food 👍 if you are a fan of Aircraft you have a daily very low fly past which is great to watch! Would highly recommend this site and can’t wait to return. Thanks Adam for sharing this wonderful place.

Disliked: Nothing

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Lovely campsite with beautiful views we loved seeing sheep in the fields all around us , the owner was lovely my daughter enjoyed the honesty shop they had and loved spending her penny's on ice lolly’s , we would definitely come back again.

Disliked: Only real dislike is for a big site only 1 shower per gender what made it’s slightly difficult.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Very friendly, no hassle campsite. We drove straight in, found a place to pitch our tent and got it all setup straight away because the thunder and rain were in the air. Adam checked we were all right and very kindly booked us a table at the local pub (The Seven Stars) and even offered us a lift to get there. We had just come back from Aberdyfi in our Caterham 7 and wanted to stretch our legs so the 1.5mile walk was no problem. The Seven Stars is a really nice friendly pub with good food - highly recommended.

Local attractions

Beers, burgers and other tasty dishes are all well and good, but Builth Wells (10 minutes’ drive) has more than just places to eat. There’s classic entertainment here in the form of a cinema, swimming pool and shops. The Royal Welsh Showground is on the outskirts (10 minutes) for events and festivals throughout the year, as is a golf course whenever you fancy a round. Got a pair of shoes that need breaking in? Pen y Fan (50 minutes) will soon have you hiking, although it’s not a simple feat, as it’s the highest mountain in Wales. Watersports are easy to find around the Brecon Beacons too, as Llangorse Lake (half an hour) has plenty to try out, plus boat hire and fishing. Hay-on-Wye (half an hour) might make a good choice for those of you with a mix of interests. As well as bookshops and galleries, there’s a castle plus paddleboarding and other watersports on the River Wye. Fancy going off for a pedal instead? The National Cycle Route 42 (10 minutes) runs through Hay-on-Wye.
