Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked: Great campsite. Nice big pitches with plenty of space between them. Was there over August bank holiday and it didn’t feel overcrowded at all despite being fully booked. The kids loved the chickens, ducks and outdoor ping pong table. Hot showers were great. Would definitely stay again. Loved the big open skies and the migrating geese flying over.

Bell tent

Liked: The campsite is basic in the best possible sense. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Really nice couple run it, very helpful and accommodating without being in your face. The pitches are well separated. We hired a bell tent which had beds, as well as fire pit and stove outside. Zero light pollution so great night skies. The awesome Mwnt beach is a lovely 20 min walk away. We saw dolphins.

Disliked: We seriously underestimated how cold an August night can be. Bring plenty of blankets.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: This is a wonderful, well thought out campsite, and the owners very friendly and welcoming. The pitches are a good size, each with their own fire pit, and separated by longer grass to give privacy to your space. The facilities are great and kept spotless. The barn is a cosy escape from the worst weather if its needed. We appreciated the ducks and chickens next to the shower and washing up rooms, a good way to keep kids amused while we got on with the chores. Sam the cat was very popular too. The skys are dark enough for star gazing. We also liked the attention to sustainable living, eg being able to compost our veg scraps for the poly tunnel. The area is beautiful with plenty to do. As well as the great nearby beach (and dolphins) we saw the water buffalo at the wildlife centre, and the nearby iron age hill fort. There's plenty more we didn't have time for. If you're after a child friendly site, with plenty of space in a beautiful part of the world this is it. We will definitely be back.

Disliked: The only thing we didn't like was that we came to the end of our holiday.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked: Lovely little campsite in quiet rural setting with plenty of room between pitches. The facilities are nice and clean. Helen and Dylan are really friendly and helpful. Lovely Mwnt beach nearby, 20 minutes walk through farmyard and fields or 5 minutes drive with plenty of parking. Would highly recommend this site.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: What a fantastic campsite! Super friendly and helpful couple that run it and have given it a tastefully creative touch. Peaceful, beautiful hillside scenery and a beautiful natural campsite with long whispy grass separating large pitches, giving you your own peaceful haven. A pond with fish surrounded by wild flowers kept my girls busy as they watched the fish, pretended to fish, that was when they weren't looking at the ducks and chickens or running around with other children or climbing the rocks, because of the cars not being by your pitch we could safely let them run around. The communal fridge and freezer aswell as charge pint was super helpful and showers warm and clean. We love an evening fire and this campsite has a ring if stones on each pitch to make this easy and also sell fire wood to save you bringing some, what a lovely evening roaring marshmallows and watching the beautiful sunset. The short 20 minute walk to Mwnt beach was also great, perfect beach with dolphin spitting, coastal walks and sandy fun. A beautiful spot to camp and made easy by the people that run it. We loved the eco side and all the different recycling and way they encourage wildlife. One of the highlights for our girls was helping a field mouse cross what would be the 'grassy road'. Such a great to camp but look after nature to. Thank you for a memorable camping experience, we loved every minute 😃.

Local attractions

You’ll want to start (quite possibly immediately upon arrival) with a walk to Mwnt beach, about 20 minutes away on foot. The sandy stretch here is nicely sheltered for swimming, paddleboarding and canoeing – and you can often spot dolphins while you’re sitting on the beach or taking a walk on the Ceredigion Coast Path. If you’d like to up your chances of a close-up audience with the marine mammals, head to New Quay (half an hour’s drive) to join a wildlife-spotting boat trip. For more insights into the local nature, pay a visit to the Welsh Wildlife Centre (20 minutes) – perhaps stopping at Cilgerran Castle (15 minutes) for a sniff of Welsh history at a medieval fortress too. Back to the beach? There are lots more lovely spots to put on your to-visit list around here, including Poppit Sands (15 minutes), Penbryn (20 minutes) and Llangrannog (25 minutes).
