What customers say

Great community site with top-notch facilities and friendly staff. Lovely riverside walks to Wick. Spacious pitches. Some temporary facilities could use an update, but new ones are coming. Ideal for NC500 adventures.

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked Great site, shop, new toilet&shower blocks. Nice walk along river into Wick.

Disliked Pitches are quite close to one another.

Keep in mind the low bridge at the main entrance and the alternate route that you need to take if in an Motorhome along the river and park /playground narrow road.

From the manager: Thank you for the review. We hope that you enjoyed your stay, and hope you will come back and visit us again soon.

Regarding pitches being too close to one another, our main pitches come in two sizes; 8m deep x 6m wide which we class as a triple width pitch that can fit a caravan, awning and tow vehicle, and an 8m deep x 6m wide pitch which are double width that fits campers/motorhomes and awnings. Our pitches are laid out as per guidance from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, where there must be 6m between units, and 3m between an awning and a unit on the next pitch.

There is 3m between each of our pitches and when guests check in they are given a comprehensive leaflet and given instruction on how to pitch up to ensure complaince with the fire regulations, so when pitched correctly each unit is 6m apart.

Powered gravel caravan site (XL)

Liked One of the best sites I've stayed at. Phil & Christine, the Wardens, clearly take pride in their job, really helpful & approachable. Another guest, a regular, told me the site has been so much better since the current Wardens came. I'm sure the place wouldn't be the same without them.

Disliked My cable wasn't long enough to reach the hook-up point from my pitch, but easily resolved by the Warden, who lent me a longer one.

From the manager: Thank you for the review.

We are sorry you did not enjoy Wick. The town is steeped in history and has so much to offer including the amazing Heritage Centre, Caithness Sea Coast, two Victorian tidal swimming pools, Ebenezer Place (The worlds shortest Street), The Black Stairs where L.S. Lowery painted "The Steps At Wick", Old Wick Castle, The Caithness At War and Telford Trails, Orca watching at the Trinkie, amazing coastal and riverside walks, Wick Marina, as well as 15 sit down eating establishments and 11 takeaways. Staxigoe Harbour, Sinclair Girnigoe Castle, Reiss Golf Course and Reiss Beach are also all within a few miles.

Liked Staff helpful and informative.
Good location in easy reach of amenities.

Toilets clean and well thought out in the shower cubicles.

Disliked The site was a bit big for us and the none of the toilet seats seem to fit correctly to the pan.

Local attractions

Wick, of course, is the place to start – you can walk into the centre of town to visit the Wick Heritage Centre, grab a dram or two at Pulteney Distillery or head to the harbour to book a boat trip taking you out among the sea stacks and along the cliffs to see if you can spot seals, puffins and other marine life. Elsewhere along the coast, find the ruins of Castle of Old Wick (10 minutes’ drive) and Sinclair Girnigoe Castle (15 minutes), explore the intriguing stone creations at Hill O’ Many Stanes (15 minutes) or check out the natural rock formations at Whaligoe Steps (15 minutes) and Duncansby Stacks (25 minutes). Of course you can’t miss the opportunity to go up to the very north of Scotland to visit John O’Groats (25 minutes) and RSPB Dunnet Head (40 minutes). While you’re in the area, stop by at the 16th-century Castle & Gardens of Mey (half an hour) or take a detour to Reiss Sands (10 minutes) for a stroll among the dunes.
