  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome
If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Campsite as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests. And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you. The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

We were pitched in a touring spot overnight in the woods at the top of the site, very quiet.

Disliked: On the day police crime cordon!

From the manager: Hi, thank you very much for coming to Cobleland and leaving a review. I'm delighted to read that the check-in process was easy and you would visit again. I hope you don't mind but i thought it may worth pointing out that the ' police crime cordon ' was not there as a result of a crime but the result of a sudden and tragic fatality of one of our guests. The staff were tied up with consoling the guests family and dealing with the authorities, in a polite and professional manner. I'm sorry if this affected your stay with us, but such circumstances are out with our control.

Powered concrete slab site (woodland)

Liked: Beautiful location near to aberfoyle which has all the amenities you need as well as a small onsite shop and coffee hut. Hot showers, laundry area and washing up sinks are a great thing to have. Will hopefully be back soon! Small play area for the kids and a nice stream running along the Campsite.

Disliked: Soap in ladies bathroom never seemed to have anything in the dispensers, even after seeing the cleaner in there... so maybe take your own down.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Annie, thank you for coming to Cobleland, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The soap dispensers in the toilets become ' clogged ' up from time to time. Thank you for pointing it out, we will get onto that today ! Thanks again and hopefully see you again soon, best wishes Oliver

All round a great spot for a peaceful stay.

Powered concrete slab site (woodland)

Liked: Really enjoyed our stay here, weather wasn’t great but that’s the gamble you take this time of year. Lovely site situated alongside a beautiful river, staff really friendly and helpful.

Our furry friend (dog) also had a great time with no shortage of walks/trails/woodland/open spaces to keep him entertained.

Reception/shop has all the bits and pieces you might forget and the coffee van served up fresh hot rolls in the morning.

Disliked: Not mush to dislike here (apart from the weather)

Meadow powered grass and gravel site

Liked: We were held up by a bad accident and were worried we would not get into the campsite that late, 10.30pm. Oliver could not have been more kind he was exceptional. No problem straight on to the pitch allocated. He even helped us out with directions the next day. Fairy lights lit up the park [although not sure if the switch off at night] not a problem for us we were too tired.
