Liked: Loved the working farm feel. Lovely owners. Nice and tranquil as only 2 EHU pitches on gravel, plenty of room. Nice to chill and just relax. Excellent for star gazing. Got to see the cows being moved close to van so fantastic sights in the morning. Highland cows lovely to see. Lots of working collies and friendly. Very well trained. Beautiful small cabin with leather seats and gifts to buy. Ice lollies and meat to buy to. Book to write in about your stay. Need own facilities on board your vehicle. Has bin and recycle and water tap from hills. Farm buggie tours available to pre book. Lots of deer on my walk. War graves up on hill a walk away. Lovely large table and seats. Swing ball , wood board games. Small grass paddock that owner said i could walk my dog in, he loved been in there for a run about off lead.

Liked: Lovely secluded little place, 2 electric pitches with plenty of room looking out on beautiful scenery. Very friendly and helpful staff on the farm, this is a working environment for them so expect farm machinery and animals, our kids loved it.

Liked: Wow, just wow. Incredible stay, wonderful folk, stunning scenery. Had a buggy ride and met the cows, ate their own farm burgers , got their sausages for tomorrow .The kind of place you want to keep a secret as it's so wonderful but at the same time want to sing their praises. Two pitches, facing the rolling fields. A whole host of lovely farm collies there to greet you. Will be back to help with the lambing! Great price, great wifi, great time all round.

Local attractions

In among all the antics on site, it’s worth finding time to explore the local area – as so often with the Highlands, it’s rather gorgeous. For starters, there’s a splendid sandy beach a mile and a half away at Melvich, and you can take a walk out to the cliffs at Puffin Cove to see the birds from may to early August. For a tipple or two to go with your evening meal, swing by the Wolfburn Distillery (25 minutes’ drive) for your whisky or Rock Rose (40 minutes) for a bottle of local gin. The seafood’s pretty good around here too – stop by at Scrabster or Thurso (both 25 minutes) to see boats coming in and see what you can find to eat. Alternatively, grab your golf clubs for a day on the course at Reay (10 minutes), stroll around 16th-century Castle of Mey (45 minutes) or take a day tour to Orkney from Thurso. If you’ve not yet snapped a pic of yourself by the John o’Groats sign, that’s slightly less than an hour away.
