Liked: The campsite is right on the beach which was so nice. The toilet block was a very short walk from the tent pitches, a bonus especially in the rain!.

Disliked: I would owe more stars however upon looking at activities and their pricing, for the time alloted and the facilities (crazy golf) it seemed rather expensive. Also be aware if on a budget and allowing for eating in the bar that the food although seemingly reasonable the drinks are not, £6 for a pint of Cider, £7 for a glass of wine, we chose to buy from the local co op in Dornoch. My lack of stars resonates more with the communal facilities, although clean and ample room in the toilets, some taps didn't work and neither did some soap dispensers. The washing up area was the same with taps not working and the sinks so low and deep that most would struggle.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Good facilities and friendly helpful staff. The camping area for non electric hookups in "the dunes" is quite sheltered. Fish and chips plus a bar/ restaurant on site.

Disliked: The toilet block in the dunes is no longer used, so the pitches feel a little neglected.

Liked: The staff were very friendly. The toilets, showers, washing up areas were spotless. The campsite was near to the beach, but also had good facilities on the site, lovely play area for the children and a seperate football/tennis/basketball area. The crazy golf was good fun (if you could get over that hole 4 was missing). The fish and chips we got from the onsite chippy was excellent, large portions. Our children enjoyed the swimming pool, but would recommend booking in advance. We had a great weekend.

Disliked: I didn't like being asked to send a photo of my ID to an online company. Both my driving licence and passport have details I would not share online. I emailed to say I would be happy to show ID on arrival but would not allow a copy to be taken. I gave 1 star for WiFi as I wasn't given info on this so used hotspot for the weekend

Local attractions

Dornoch, the pretty little town nearest to Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame Holiday Park, has a range of small independent shops, a cathedral dating back to 1224 and one of the best championship golf courses in the world. Otherwise, if you fancy a day trip, there’s a decent variety of things to do nearby. For a fairytale castle with a French flavour, take a tour of Dunrobin Castle, which stages falconry displays twice daily in its beautiful grounds; Black Isle Wildlife Park has child-pleasing meerkats, lemurs and zebras; whisky lovers can wet their whistle at the Glenmorangie Distillery; and the spectacular waterfalls at Falls of Shin are one of the best places in Scotland to see salmon feats of derring-do as the fish leap upstream between May and September, or to go geocaching, walking and cycling along the forest trails. If you don’t mind travelling a bit further, it’s an easy drive to classic destinations such as John O’Groats, Loch Ness and Ullapool.
