Ardnamurchan Campsite in the village of Kilchoan has stunning views down the sound of Mull. The small site is less than a mile from the village shop and is owner operated. There are about 20 pitches in three adjacent areas on this working croft. There are 5 electric hook up pitches suitable for camper vans and smaller motor homes up to about 7m. The entrance is quite steep making it unsuitable for caravans and larger motor homes. The facilities in a converted stone byre have 2 toilets and two showers which are included in the price. Wireless internet is usually available, please ask for the password.

Route directions

From Tobermory Mull ferry. At the T junction (B8007) about 1 mile from the ferry turn left and continue on this road for about 1mile to the village shop (Ferry Stores). The campsite is just over half a mile beyond the shop From Corran Ferry (8 miles south of Fort William). The site is 44 miles, turn left off the ferry onto the A861 and head for Strontian. Through Strontian to Salen, turn LEFT at Salen onto the B8007 and head towards Kilchoan. Continue on this road to the village shop, the campsite is about half a mile beyond the shop. From the Road to the Isles (Mallaig - Fort William road A830) At Lochailort head towards Glenuig and Acharacle on the A861 to Salen, turn RIGHT onto the B8007 and head for Kilchoan

Local attractions

Lighthouse and visitor centre at Ardnamurchan point, the most westerly point on the British mainland is about 5 miles away. Sanna Bay with its beautiful shell sand beaches is about 4 miles away. The campsite is situated on a wonderful rocky shore where at low tide there is a fantastic variety of inter-tidal wildlife. Otters, Pine Martens, Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles have all been seen from the campsite. There are lots of red dear in the surrounding hill. Tobermory on Mull is only a short ferry ride away, ideal for a day trip. Sometimes dolphins, porpoises and Minke whales can be seen from the ferry. Boat trips to Coll and the small isles can be booked locally
