Urr camping pod

Liked: We love everything abt the place. We are family of five so need a place that can fit all five of us. Our wigwam was jst nice for it. They gave us our own bathroom with 2 toilets & a shower room, it was a really huge bonus for us. They also have a laundry/drying room with a dryer/washing machines to use for a small charge. That room was really useful as it was raining most of our stay. We cannot cook in the wigwam but they provided a small fridge, a microwave and a kettle and our own picnic bench, we use it to cook whn the weather was a bit nice. They also have a communal kitchen to use with everything provided too (pots/cutleries/cooker with oven/microwave, toaster and kettle). Inside the communal kitchen, there were dining tables and some sofas ( it was really comfortable n warm in there☺️) Also they provided a bike storage which my husband really like! We wld love to stay there again nxt time.

Nith camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: The pods were equipped with everything we needed. The website contained a huge amount of detail on what to bring with us and what was nearby to do.The hot tub was nice and secluded. The private bathroom was a really nice touch. Everything was beautifully clean. Staff were super friendly and supported when I had car troubles.

Disliked: Building my own camp fire on the first night!! But with practice I got better!!

Liked: Excellent wigwam/hut in a lovely quiet location. Fabby outdoor space with a fire pit, food plate and seating. The shower and toilets were spotless ( a dedicated area just for us). And there is a fully functioning kitchen with all the utensils you need. Great dog walks, straight onto the forest next door. Definately will be back!

Larch camping pod (hot tub, no pets)

Liked: My daughter and I had the most amazing stay after her exams. The cabin was fabulous, it kept us nicely warm at night and my daughter absolutely loved the hot tub! The location was so peaceful and it was a great relaxing trip. The owners where wonderful and really helpful, showing us how to fire up the hot tub and making sure we had everything we needed. We hired bikes one day from the site and were able to go into the forest next door to ride so this was a great addition. The whole site was really great and clean. We loved our trip and have been raving about it to everyone we know.

Disliked: Nothing. It was fabulous

Local attractions

Although the award-winning 7stanes are a favoured spot of experienced mountain bikers, much of them are suitable for all levels of cyclist, from families and beginners to the truly hardy types. Hire a bike at the farm then pedal the short distance to the Dalbeattie 7stances trailhead for access to the trails on this part of the circuit: the seven and a half-mile Ironhash Trail into the forest is the easiest one to tackle. If that’s not your thing, set off in to the forest for a wander, to spot herons, grebes and damselflies around Plantain Loch (about 10 miles from base if you’re up for the hike), or to take one of the waymarked paths of a mile and up. For watery pursuits, sailing is available at Kippford a few minutes’ drive away and at Loch Ken 20 minutes' drive inland; sea, game and coarse fishing are all close by. For family days, the local ice cream factory (15 minutes) and chocolate factory (20 minutes) should see small guests satisfied, while grownups can investigate the local brewery, distillery and acclaimed farm shop for a fine selection of local produce.
