  • Glamping cabins among the scenic Galloway Hills in south-west Scotland
  • In 80 acres of meadows, woodland and pasture; two miles from beaches
  • On-site fishing, bike hire and segways; explore miles of forest trails
Gorgeous, gorgeous Galloway views are just part of what guests get with a stay at Gorsebank. The thoughtfully spaced out glamping cabins are set among 80 acres of open meadows, woodlands and pasture on an equestrian farm in the Galloway Hills. This Dumfries and Galloway and south-west Scotland site is thick with trees and shrubs that blaze colour in spring and autumn. It borders the Dalbeattie Forest, hence plenty of peaceful birdsong. Guests have permission to set up an open firepit to rustle up outdoor meals over a cooking plate. Fancy a stroll? There are gentle forest paths or more strenuous hilly and clifftop routes to take your pick from. As you’d imagine, this is also top territory for other outdoor activities. There are cycling paths close by, and the famed 7stanes mountain bike trails are accessible only 300 metres away at the Dalbeattie trailhead. Feeling faint at the very thought? Laze on the small beach at Rockcliffe is a few miles away, then take the gentle stroll a mile or so to Kippford to idle by the estuary and watch the yachts coming in. Coarse fishing is available on site for a small extra charge if you’d prefer to keep the energy levels nice and low during your stay, and you can entertain the kids with ease on site too, on the farm experience tour, adventure path and the intriguing-sounding hide and seek hill... A nature treasure hunt and bike hire are available for an extra charge. Barbecues are allowed; there’s a heated kitchen for indoor food prep, and the site amenities are kept spotless by the dedicated Gorsebank team: small wonder that a guest has pointed out that ‘Everything about this place is fantastic’…

Larch camping pod (basic)

Liked Great facilities - loved having our own bathroom and the kitchen / drying room / (although we didn’t use)were a great addition. We only stayed for 1 night but if we had been there for longer we would have definitely used them.
Check in was easy and communication with the owner was good.
The pod was perfect - comfortable sofa bed with fridge and kettle and outside space to sit and cook.
Great base from which to explore Galloway but also as a stop off from travelling down from north Scotland.
Thank you

Nith camping pod (hot tub)

Liked Absolutely beautiful, very clean, very welcoming. Beautiful peaceful site. I loved the private toilet and shower facilities. Handy dog wash although we did not use it. We did use the hot tub which is lovely and gets super warm and hold the heat overnight so you can have a quick dip in the morning. Communal room was really big with facilities to use as well as laundry room. Lovely private set up in a beautiful rural spot to be able to forget the rest of the world. Beach is a 10min drive away. Pods are really warm on a night time with heater too so no worries for small children.

Disliked Nothing I do nd this site incredible and I'm looking to book again

Nith camping pod (hot tub)

Liked Excellent toilet facilities-spotlessly clean with a hot, powerful shower. We had our own toilet/shower meaning we could leave all our toiletries, towels there for the duration.
The kitchen is also spotlessly clean and we did not see a single other person use it!
The doggy shower is very useful after muddy walks.
The location of the wigwam was great-felt quite private and was a pretty spot.
There are lovely walks you can do straight from the site.

Local attractions

Although the award-winning 7stanes are a favoured spot of experienced mountain bikers, much of them are suitable for all levels of cyclist, from families and beginners to the truly hardy types. Hire a bike at the farm then pedal the short distance to the Dalbeattie 7stances trailhead for access to the trails on this part of the circuit: the seven and a half-mile Ironhash Trail into the forest is the easiest one to tackle. If that’s not your thing, set off in to the forest for a wander, to spot herons, grebes and damselflies around Plantain Loch (about 10 miles from base if you’re up for the hike), or to take one of the waymarked paths of a mile and up. For watery pursuits, sailing is available at Kippford a few minutes’ drive away and at Loch Ken 20 minutes' drive inland; sea, game and coarse fishing are all close by. For family days, the local ice cream factory (15 minutes) and chocolate factory (20 minutes) should see small guests satisfied, while grownups can investigate the local brewery, distillery and acclaimed farm shop for a fine selection of local produce.
