  • Ensuite camping pods on a small farm two kilometres from Annascaul
  • 15 minutes' drive from Inch Beach; 25 minutes from Dingle
  • On the Wild Atlantic Way scenic coastal drive
Travelling the Wild Atlantic Way, or just seeking a bit of Dingle downtime? Pack light and pick a pod at Annascaul Glamping. This bijou site is in the grounds of a small family farm a couple of kilometres from the village of Annascaul, with cracking views over the Sliabh Mish mountains and down towards the coast. This is a fine place to get your fill of fresh air – you can walk up to Annascaul Lake in half an hour or so, or borrow one of the farm’s bikes to pedal to stunning Inch Beach in about 45 minutes. Horse riding, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and dolphin-spotting boat trips are all easily accessed too, or you could flex your muscles by chipping in with the working farm’s daily activities. Should the clouds allow, you’re welcome to light up a barbecue to whip up a meal; on damp days it’ll take you five minutes or so to drive down to the village for restaurants and cosy pubs where you can feast on local food and tap your toes to live music. If you’d like to venture further afield, there’s a bus stop in the village and the friendly folks on site can arrange pick-ups and drop-offs to save your legs.

Local attractions

After gazing out at the coast from the farm, head down to gorgeous Inch Beach for a closer look. There are several scenic sandy miles to stroll along (bring a camera, for you’ll no doubt be snapping away), and some great spots for surfing, fishing and kayaking. Boards and kayaks can be hired at the beach, and there are surf lessons up for grabs too if your technique needs a boost. If you’re ready to ramble, there are plenty of trails to follow around here, perhaps up to Annascaul Lake, along the coast around Minard Castle or up into the mountains. For a different way to get about, a couple of stables within a half-hour drive offer scenic horse rides or you can paddleboard you way along the coast from Dingle (25 minutes away). Dingle’s also the place for wildlife-spotting boat trips to the Blasket Islands (keep your eyes peeled for the famed dolphin Fungie), guided local history tours, drams at the whiskey distillery and meeting the marine beasts at Dingle Oceanworld.
