More glens? Yes please. You’ll be belting out the lyrics of Green Glens of Antrim as soon as you set eyes on this park, set in an Area of Outstanding Beauty in one of the nine Antrim glens. Glenmore Caravan and Camping Park is between Ballintoy and Ballycastle, in prime position for some of the most eye-watering scenery in the country – you might be tempted to say ‘in the world’ when you see it… Glenmore is a whopper of a park at 95 acres and there are several different pitching areas available, so you can pitch up with the kids or hide away with your other half in a romantic corner to take in the viewpoints across to Rathlin Island, the Mull of Kintyre or Islay. Newbies are well catered for: just ask the very friendly owners if you need help with your van or tent or how to pick something to do from the vast range of activities in the area if you’re using the park as your touristy base at any time of the year. Northern Ireland is great for fishing but anglers won’t have to go too far with the fly fishing lake right on site stocked with brown and rainbow trout, before trying some champ in the restaurant and settling in for the night in the Glenmore bar. If you're new to fly fishing, lessons are available and guests can hire rods. If your family or suffering other half are threatening divorce as you sing Green Glens of Antrim yet again, they’ll be easily pacified: the two young women resident at the park are members of the traditional Irish band Tir na Og and can usually be persuaded to give a few songs and tunes any night.   • The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dog Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • Group bookings of 2 or more units (e.g. tent, caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • A charge of GBP1.00 ($1.92) applies for the use of the shower.
  • Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
  • Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • The campground/park caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
  • At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
  • Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the campground/park are unlit.
  • Swimming in the lake is not allowed.
  • Fishing for brown and rainbow trout is available on site, starting from £15 per person.

Disliked Very run down and neglected. Unkept and unclean facilities which we felt we couldn’t use. Very expensive compared to other sites. The whole site is very poorly drained so our caravan was a mucky mess. Such a shame as the site has so much potential

Liked Very quiet, large pitch with no one else in sight.Good view of the lake, hills and sea.

Disliked Not as modern and up to date as we expected. Everything seemed a bit worn out and in need of a refresh. There was no hot water on our first night- apparently the boiler was broken but they didn’t tell us and did not refund the £1 for a cold shower!!
Nobody offered us a wi fi code and there was none detected at our pitch.
Apparently there are no fish in the trout lake so don’t go there for the fishing!!
The way they describe the site we expected a bit more in terms of functioning facilities. If you are happy for a quiet site with basic facilities then it is great but their description suggests a lot more!!

From the manager: Thank you for the review and sorry you found the boiler had broken down, about 10.00 that morning a young lady from the upper tent pitches informed us that the water in the shower was not very warm, we tried to make quick repairs to the boiler but that wasn't working so within 2 hours of being informed we had purchased a new boiler and by 12.30 that morning it was fitted, so why instead of taking a note about it to complain you could have informed us and we would have let you use the showers in the guesthouse like we did with a few other people as for the £1 if you forward on your bank details I will put it in your account,
As for WiFi there is no codes to log on, and as for the fishing lakes there is fish there but because of some weed that got up during the COVID the fishing could be difficult at the moment anyhow you wanted to bait fish which we never offered.

Liked Well maintained space for pitching tents. Bathroom facilities were clean and easily accessible. Children had plenty of space to play with a park on site also

Local attractions

Both Ballintoy and Ballycastle are on the coast road to Giant’s Causeway, the alleged stomping ground of giant Finn McCool and the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland. Make a day of it by quivering across the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (don’t look down) and calm your nerves afterwards with a toddy and a tour at Bushmills Distillery. Ballycastle is the ferry point for Rathlin Island, six miles off the coast. This RSPB reserve and tiny island is a must-see: get the Puffin Bus to the west coast to peer at the colourful critters up close, then stroll south to see the seals and the ruined stone cottages from days of yore. For day trips, the seaside towns of Portrush and Portstewart are where many Northern Irish folk meander to on a sunny day: Barry’s Amusements in Portrush is an institution, and Portstewart has to be visited for a roll down the sand dunes.
