What customers say

Great value, good pub grub, friendly staff. Some found portions small. Road noise is a big issue, affecting sleep. Toilets only when pub's open, which can be a pain. Access to the big field wasn't always straightforward.

Power optional concrete slab motorhome site

Liked We liked the friendly welcome by all the staff. Our little pitch was under some trees, which was perfect. The Poplars is a busy pub, and very pretty inside. The food was amazing and plentiful, if a little expensive.

Disliked Only gripe, no Elsan point, with access to onsite toilets with restricted opening times, limiting the nights you can stay.

Power optional concrete slab motorhome site

Liked Cheap. Ok for a night.

Disliked Pub carpark very close to the road. Despite it's cheapness, there are better options. We only stayed one of our two booked nights.
Not somewhere to chill.
No water available. Toilet only during opening hours

Power optional concrete slab motorhome site

Liked The bar staff were very polite and pleasant to talk to and the service was good food was very good although the portions were small .

Disliked The pitches were right on a very busy road and the traffic was relentless so sleeping was nigh on impossible we booked for 2 nights but decided to only stay for 1 night the lack of toilet facilities when the pub is closed could be an issue for campers without a toilet although this is stated on the booking site the site does have massive field attached to it and if we're possible to camp on the far side of the field then the road noise would have been tolerable and if allowed would have changed the whole experience.

Had a fabulous relaxing 2 night stay (except for the traffic.)

Powered concrete and grass motorhome site

Liked Fabulous Restaurant & Bar with excellent food. Perfect hosts, regularly checking that I was ok. Plenty of outside space, tables & benches for outside dining. Everywhere was clean & tidy. Lovely big field for dogs to run around in. Perfect weather

Disliked The pitches were backed onto a very busy main road. Quite a bit of traffic noise. Could do with a fence across to deaden the traffic noise & to make it more secure for dogs staying on the pitches.
Could do with an outside toilet for campers.

Liked Easy to find. Nice pub with food.

Disliked We paid for camping with no electric. We were told to park in the front of the pub in the car park, right on the main road. The lovely field as described was out of bounds for parking, so we couldn't sit outside in the sun. . The road was very noisy. The staff were unfriendly and treated us as though we were a nuisance, especially when we only bought drinks. As we didn't need electric we might as well parked in a layby.

From the manager: Dear Nicky,

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

We’d like to clarify a few details to help avoid any misunderstandings for future guests. The pitch you were allocated was a non-electric one, as per your booking. All our pitches—both electric and non-electric—are situated at the front of the pub, and this is clearly reflected in the photos provided. The grass field, which begins approximately 40cm from where you were parked, was entirely available for your use during your stay. Guests are welcome to sit out, relax, and enjoy this space, and we’re sorry if this wasn’t made clear at the time.

We’re also sorry to hear that you found our staff unfriendly. We aim to ensure all our guests feel welcome, whether they’re dining with us or simply stopping by for a drink. Your comments have been noted and will be shared with the team as part of our ongoing efforts to provide warm and inclusive hospitality.

Thank you again for your feedback. We hope you’ll consider visiting us again in the future.

Warm regards,
The Poplars Team
