The pub from the road
Peaceful pub garden complete with thatched smoking shelter
Hardstanding area in a sheltered spot by the fruit and vegetable garden

  • Peaceful camping field with year-round facilities
  • National Trust and English Heritage properties close by
  • Hike the 20 minutes up Ham Hill from the site
Check out this well-connected Somerset pub site… The Masons Arms is in the good-looking hamstone village of Odcombe near Yeovil, surrounded by topping walking trails – the 20-minute hike up Ham Hill is thoroughly recommended just to start strolls off. The Masons Arms is close to many Somerset attractions including National Trust and English Heritage properties, but is set peacefully well away from the main road. And as it's a pub site, dinner and drinks in the Arms each evening are also thoroughly recommended (the bar and restaurant are closed on Monday and reopen at 4pm on Tuesday) - no fights needed about who's going to drive home… Facilities at the Masons Arms include a modern unisex amenities block with two toilets, two showers, three sinks, a washing-up area, a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board.

Liked Much cleaner toilets and showers from last time . Not many campers there. Beer garden had been refreshed with new seats. Lovely service and food delivered quickly.

Disliked Our pitch (4) didn't have electrics near enough so we moved onto grass behind it. However that was the hard standing pitch that was flat.

The bad step coming down from the beer garden. It always gets me.

Lovely quiet site, great having a pub on your doorstep. Food and…

Powered grass motorhome site

Liked Lovely site at the back of a great little pub with a lovely garden. Nice roomy pitches grass pitches with the option of electicity on some pitches. Good location. Pub staff were really helpful and friendly.

Disliked Unisex facilities, only 2 toilets and 2 showers, really not sufficient when sharing. Both toilet seats were loose and the showers could do up a good clean and update.
The organisation with the hardstanding pitches in the grass section was a bit of a shambles, as there were access issues once one motorhome was in place.

Another lovely stay at The Masons Arms. Was glad to see it…

Liked Pub was pleasant enough and lovely walks around the little town.

Disliked Rubbish bins were overflowing and in full view on arrival. Was even worse the next day as the site was full. Even the 4 or 5 staff that walked past numerous times as they tried to sort out electric points did not seem to notice or care to sort out the rubbish and empty the bins. Bathroom had not been properly cleaned for years. Could be a wonderful site but sadly lacking management, cleanliness or passion.

Liked Quiet and level pitches. Helpful staff. Showers were hot.

Disliked We booked electric but we were unsure which hook up point to use. Staff came to look but were also unsure which point was for which pitch. It would have helped if the hook up points were marked as it looked like another pitch was using ours. The staff were helpful and refunded the cost so no complaints about the service. There was a lot of rubbish overflowing the bins which was not great. The showers were push button and you have to hold it on the whole time which did not make having a shower very easy. Pub was not serving food which was frustrating as it was one reason we chose it, website did indicate it was a night they did food.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site (large)

Liked The pub is lovely and serves great food.
It has a sunny beer garden. It is quite quiet, which was nice. The camping field is peaceful and the pitches are large. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Great for dogs. There is a fenced section of field for dogs to run in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can recommend this campsite.

Disliked Unisex toilets and showers. I would prefer separate facilities, so I’ve rated it an 9.Also, you have to press the shower button the whole time.
