  • Wells, Glastonbury and Cheddar Gorge within a 40-minute drive
  • Hot tub and kingsize bed; add a child's bed or tent for a small fee
Getting to Croft Glamping Cabins has a bit of a magical vibe to it – you’ll enter the village of North Newton via the ‘fairy glades’, follow the stream through the village and then make your way up a grassy track to find your new little home tucked away in the orchard. And what awaits in this splendid Somerset location is just as magical, as you’ll be staying in a cute little timber lodge in a secluded spot among the apple trees. It’s a very private spot – and peaceful too. There’s just the one cabin here, so you won’t have to share the space with anyone at all other than the dragonflies, birds and other wildlife that can usually be spotted around the place. The cabin comes with a kingsized bed for two adults, and a pop-up child's bed (with bedding included) or a pop-up child's tent (again, provided with a bed and bedding) are available for an additional fee. Thoughtfully designed, the cabin has a fully fitted carpet, a lovely log burner-style heater and lots of soft furnishings to keep everything cosy. Bed linen, blankets, fluffy towels and robes are all provided to make things nice and simple. Meanwhile, outside the cabin there’s a large wraparound deck with an overhanging porch (for shade in the warmer months and shelter at cooler times) and an outdoor table with fairy lights for a bit of atmosphere. It’s just the spot for a couple of drinks or dinner – a kitchenette is inside (with cooker, fridge, kettle and toaster) to help sort either option. The deck is also home to what’s surely the real highlight – your own private hot tub, where you can bubble away in peace, looking up into the sky to see if you can spot a shooting star…

Croft cabin

Liked: Absolutely loved everything about this place! It was private and quiet and beautifully set out. It was amazing to be able to sit out on the decking at night and watch the stars or to be in the hot tub as well! And the instructions we were given to be able to find the place along with the pictures were perfect. The location was amazing for getting out and seeing places as well like the beach, cheddar gorge and Glastonbury. We couldn't fault anything and we'll definitely be coming back! We've recommended to our family and friends as well.

Croft cabin

Liked: In addition to the excellent service provided by Helen by text and email, we had a lovely stay. The log cabin was beautiful and situated in a private orchard, which enhanced the experience even further. The hot tub was a delight and provided a very relaxing experience. There were many interesting places to visit in the surrounding area, and the location was convenient for travel. This little gem is excellent value for money when compared to other places with hot tubs. If we returned to the area, we would consider it.

Also Helen was very friendly and helpful throughout the stay even warning of road closures on departure day

Disliked: As a tall person I bumped my head a couple of times going to the shower on the trees but nothing else to complain about

Croft cabin

Liked: Loved how quiet and secluded the cabin was with everything we needed supplied for our stay. Lovely fluffy robes and towels perfect for wrapping up in after being in the hot tub. Bed was super comfortable. Helen and rod were very informative from the start of our stay and throughout and nothing was too much trouble

Disliked: Could do with a stepping stone path to the shower shack and hedge was becoming overgrown and the lighting not very bright

Croft cabin

Liked: Beautiful little hideaway, cabin has everything needed and hot tub is fabulous, such a treat. It rained while on our visit an only thing we wish we had as and extra would be an umbrella/ canopy to use over the hot tub if raining but actually not essential we enjoyed regardless. Will be returning as thoroughly enjoyed our nights stay.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing Croft Cabin! We love that you enjoyed your stay and really appreciate your review. We will be installing a sail shelter above the hot tub, which can be easily hooked up on raining days - while keeping the starry sky visible on finer nights! Happy Glamping!

From the manager: Thank you so much Alice! We really appreciate the review and would love to welcome you again. Autumn brings the apples and the owls looking to nest! Pumpkins ripen while the falling leaves signal the change of the seasons and the coming of winter - also a wonderful time to get away and cozy up! Happy Glamping!

From the manager: Hi Kate, thank you so much for taking time to write a lovely review! You're most welcome anytime! We continue to take care of the trees and grounds in our orchard and the adjacent gardens.l, which are a wildlife haven. Over the summer we will be setting up a bike cycle hire shack and also opening up our Croft Loft twin room, also with hot tub! With kindest regards, Helen.

Croft cabin

Liked: Loved how secluded and quiet it was - a real 'get away from it all' kind of place but a great base to visit some seaside towns like Burnham on Sea and Weston Super Mare. Hot tub was a fabulous addition to unwind with a glass of wine and the bed was so comfy. The host, Helen, emailed us with all the info we needed as not the easiest place to find. Will definitely be recommending to friends.

Local attractions

This might be a very secluded little cabin but it’s actually surprisingly well connected, as it’s only about five minutes’ stroll from the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal (a lovely place for a walk on the towpath) and about 15 minutes’ drive from Bridgwater or the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. While you’re in the area, you may also like to have a go on the water yourselves from the Somerset Boat Centre (five minutes’ drive), catch a match at Somerset County Cricket Club (15 minutes) or head north to Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole (40 minutes). Urban wanderings might take you to the likes of Taunton (15 minutes), Glastonbury (35 minutes) or Wells (45 minutes), each of which has its own character. If it’s shopping bargains you’re after, maybe a trip to Clarks Village (half an hour) should be on the cards as well.
