  • Family-run site a mile from the Jurassic Coast
  • Footpath leading to the South West Coast Path
  • Shop next door and pubs within walking distance
Guests return season after season to serene Osmington Mills Corner Campsite in its Dorset coast setting just outside the village of Osmington: it's been family run for over 60 years and has Dorset site stays down pat. Spacious pitches, room for kids to run around, and scenic views towards Weymouth four miles away are the secrets of its success, along with a peaceful rural vibe, restaurants nearby, and the site's closeness to the sea, a mile from the beaches of the Jurassic Coast. You can easily access the region's spectacular walks from here too, as a footpath leads from the site to the coast to connect with the South West Coast Path. (Or if that's a no thanks to the walk, a bus stop is just outside the site with services running to Weymouth.) Osmington has toilets, showers, a washing-up area and the means for ice pack freezing and gadget charging. A shop is next door to the site, and pubs and restaurants are within walking distance.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: plenty of space, the managers did all they could with what they had. They did not overcharge on items they had for sale and there was plenty of variety. A little of everything just incase. Close enough to Smugglers Inn to walk although if you want to go anywhere else you would need transport as the road to the village and beyond is quite busy for walking down. there is a tea shop 150m to the left of the site.

Disliked: the water for washing up and washing/shaving was cold, We could not work out the lighting but weren't too worried as did not need it.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: The countryside.

Disliked: The grass was long, ground extremely lumpy and difficult to pitch a tent. Uneven ground.
The site was in a lovely location but it was basically a field rather than a tailored site.

From the manager: we are sorry our site was not for you.the period we open in may for the half term week we keep the grass longer ,as it is what is known as meadow pasture, there are many wild flowers which we like the pollenators to do there job. we have had one of the driest springs on record so consequently the ground is harder than usual.when we re open at the end of june the grass is cut to our normal length.

Will return for sure. 2 fun nights camping with a toddler.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Warm welcome, very laid back and lots of space. Lots of family groups of site but all very respectful of each other. Compared with other sites in Weymouth very reasonable.

Disliked: Toilets and shower block basic. Site is on a hill but has lots of flat spaces.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Really dirty toilets and showers, unable to use. So we left and went somewhere else. I was concerned me or my children would get ill.

From the manager: Our toilets and showers are cleaned numerous times each day ,you should of addressed any problem you had while staying so if there had been an issue we could have resolved it immediately.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: The wide open space was great, the welcome was friendly and helpful
Easy access to a bus stop and a simple stall selling basics.
Toilet block was clean and well stocked.

Disliked: Can be a little bit uneven and boggy in wet weather. The showers just had a curtain rather than a lockable door so I passed on that. Only one hot water tap so there was a (really friendly) queue to wash up

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Great site, pitch where you want, good location by the sea and within walking distance to The Smugglers Inn through fields then the village. Took everything with us for the 4 nights we were there, but there is a Sainsbury’s just over a mile away and a bus stop outside that went to Weymouth.

Local attractions

Get out onto the South West Coast Path close to the site, try your hand at fishing for Dorset mackerel, canter along the coast on horseback, take a boat out, or up the ante with some kayaking or zorbing… all available nearby. Weymouth, four miles away, has been a famed Dorset seaside spot since Georgian times and these days has stacks to do such as sailing and surfing (several surf schools are around if you're just starting out), a long sandy beach and a Sea Life Centre, miniature railway and RSPB reserve above the town at Lodmoor Country Park. More famed Dorset days can be had with fossil hunting on Chesil Beach, six miles away, and taking in the sight of spectacular Durdle Door at Lulworth Cove, within seven miles of the site. You could also chatter with the inhabitants of Monkey World, see the swans at the award-winning Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, or steam along to the Tank Museum at Bovington, all reachable within 10 miles.
