  • Peaceful, dog-friendly rural farm site in the Dorset countryside
  • A five-minute drive to Swanage and half an hour to the Jurassic Coast
  • Back to basics site with drinking water, toilets, and showers
From castle gambols to digging for treasure in the sand, the Jurassic Coast and the serene Dorset countryside are your stomping grounds when you stay at Quarr Camping. Between the novel-esque Corfe Castle and the traditional seaside town of Swanage, this family-friendly site is well situated for an action-packed holiday of countryside capers or simply a spot of well-deserved seaside relaxation. Toot toot… what’s that sound? The traditional steam railway is nearby, and the heritage railway of Harman’s Cross railway station quite literally around the corner (10 minutes’ walk). Explore the area on foot, wheels or rail, and tick off coastal must-sees such as Durdle Door, Dancing Ledge, and Winspit Quarry, all within a 30-minute drive. Once you’re done, lean back and listen to a countryside soundtrack – crickets, cows, and all sorts of countryside animals – on this peaceful rural farm site, welcoming families, dogs and all countryside enthusiasts. You'll have to prepare to get back to basics at this site, but it's got running drinking water, toilets, showers and a chemical disposal point. Plus, you can complete the true outdoor experience with a campfire or barbecue, picking up supplies from the local shop within a 10-minute stroll. If a pint or pub grub is on your mind, there are also several pubs within five minutes’ drive. You’ll certainly need the fuel after an action-packed day of watersports, coastal hiking or biking, or sightseeing your way around.

What customers say

Popular, no-frills campsite with heaps of space and a chill vibe. Love the steam trains and the kids' hay bale fun! Toilets & showers usually spotless. Great base for Swanage. Good value, though facilities are basic (coin showers, uneven bits).

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Staff at the 'shop' were so so friendly, loved the log van going round in the evening to make sure you had enough for your firepit. Bakery Van was a great idea. Pitch was clean and tidy. Kids loved the hay bales and tunnel. Especially loved the steam trains running through. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Huge site, easy to find a pitch away from the busier spots if wanted. Neighbours friendly.

Disliked Long walk to the toilets in the night if at the further end of the fields, unsure if it would be possible to add some porta loos or something for those further away from the block. Although wasn't awful for us.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely site run by a lovely family. So willing to help and even went out of their way to find batteries for us when desperate. Always a smiley welcome and really cool site with train line a nice feature. Local bakery van comes each morning with lots of options for food including fresh pastries, eggs & Bacon.

Disliked It is quite slopey but not really a huge issue to be honest as loads of space and still plenty on flat spots.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Brilliant site, nice and spaced out. Clean bathroom. Our boys loved the trains going past, the owners were lovely to and were only a text away if we needed anything

Disliked Unfortunately a couple of other campers didn't pay attention to the dogs must be on leads rule while we were there I'm sure this isn't a usual thing for the site but did mean our children were unable to play as freely and we weren't able to relax while they played

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely campsite, booked originally for the one night due to reading a couple of recent mixed reviews but managed to speak to the lovely owners at the reception hut and extended our booking to 5 nights.
Such a lovely location, the train going last is a lovely attraction.
Great facilities, nice snack selection and ice creams on site. Toilets and showers were great and cleaned regularly and for the price far nicer than portaloos.
The firepits were a great add on and easy enough to get more logs when we needed.
Will definitely be back and recommending to friends!

Disliked Absolutely nothing!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked The amount of space, the beautiful scenery, the firepits, the breakfast van option, and the children’s play area.

Disliked Some noise in the evening (group up late with music next to us) and early morning (vehicles moving around).

Local attractions

You’ll feel like you’ve stumbled into a scene from a storybook at Harman’s Cross station (10 minutes’ walk). Pick a picnic bench, gaze at the old-school platforms and Portland stone period buildings and watch as the trains roll by. More history hangs heavy in the air at Corfe Castle (five minutes’ drive). The Jurassic Coast is where you’ll find most of the action… head down early to beat the crowds to Durdle Door (30 minutes) and its neighbour Lulworth Cove. It's hard to beat a shoreline that has silky sand, iconic landmarks and paddle-worthy waters all in one. Tick your way along the coast, beginning with a dip in the shallow pool at Dancing Ledge (5 minutes), and then on to Winspit Quarry (15 minutes) and the clifftop Durlston Country Park and National Nature Reserve (15 minutes)… or pick between watersports or a sandcastle face-off on the beaches of Sandbanks (40 minutes) and Studland (10 minutes).
