  • Small, simple site on a north Devon smallholding near Woolfardisworthy
  • A 15-minute drive to Clovelly; 25 minutes to Westward Ho!
  • Dog-friendly site with walks close by and firepit area on site
Sometimes small and simple can be simply splendid… and that’s certainly the case at Maisie’s Campsite, in the north Devon countryside five minutes’ drive from Woolfardisworthy (aka Woolsery). This sweet little pop-up site is part of a family smallholding with fabulous views out over the surrounding countryside, including nearby Hartland Forest. With just a handful of pitches on site, you’ll never be among a large crowd of guests here – although you will have to share the place with the sheep that live in the neighbouring field. It’s all about the peaceful rural atmosphere at this site – and to preserve that, the owners have installed just the essential facilities for guests. Those include a compost toilet, a shower tent (with a hot-water shower) and a firepit area where you can get a blaze going and chat to your pals or fellow guests. Despite the properly rural setting, there are plenty of handy amenities on hand here – head to the village for a convenience store, a fish and chip shop and an award-winning pub, or continue to bigger Bradworthy (10 minutes’ drive) for more choice of shops and pubs. Options for days out are in plentiful supply as well, with nature reserves within walking distance and beaches, family amusement parks and watersports within a 20-minute drive.
