What customers say
Higher Easton's a ripper spot for a quiet, no-frills farm stay. Campers loved the friendly owners, great views, big sites, and handy location. Showers are hot and free! A bit basic for some, but most reckon it's great value for its country charm. Watch out for a few uneven bits.

excellent - would definitely stay again - dog loved it too.
Unpowered grass campervan site
Liked largely flat field, mowed along the edges for camping. plenty of toilets and space to do your washing up. But let's talk showers. The showers (once you remember where they are hidden between a building and the cow barn) are fantastic, if...tin hut roofed. Hot, decent water pressure, plenty of hooks for both the clothes you have on and the clean ones to change into, plus shelves to put things. These showers are better than the next campsite I stayed which had posh showers but only one hook. And even better, you can pick blackberries while you shower, and enjoy listening to the lowing of the cows.
relatively easy walk (quietish country road, no pavement) down to Bigbury and the beach.

Big flat field, peace and quiet, working farm.
Unpowered grass campervan site
Liked The hosts, the relaxed site, the space....This is the kind of site i like; a working farm, a big flat field, basic but good and sufficient facilities, welcoming hosts, quick and clear communication, a pub 10 mins walk down the road, a beach 10 mins drive down the road (and i suppose another 15 min walk from the car park driven to), big sky, peace and quiet.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are delighted you had an enjoyable stay. Aymer Cove is a lovely beach and worth the walk, it's usually fairly quiet as well. If you want to hop out of your can and onto the beach Bigbury beach is 5 minutes down the road, we are spoilt for choice.

Price was good. Booking was easy…
Unpowered grass campervan site
Liked Price was good. Booking was easy and communication and directions were spot on.
Disliked The site was just a field with long grass and very bumpy. We couldn't find anywhere really flat to pitch the tent. It seemed like no effort had been made to create flat, mown areas for tents. It wasn't so bad in the camper but walking around in the evening in long grass meant we all got bitten by creepy crawlies. A quick mow in along the hedge line would have made it much more pleasant.

From the manager: Dear Heather,
Thank you for your review and for confirming the price and directions were good.
I really am sorry you were disappointed and that your stay did not meet your expectations, however as the other reviews and our Higher Easton Farm Campsite write up on here states, we are a basic, pop up, back to nature campsite, people come here for the big views, the sun set, the sun rises and the night sky as we are in an officially recognised dark sky area. This is a place to switch off and unwind, that is why I say camp where you want to, so that if you want to have a good amount of space between you and other campers you can, but as others have said it is a basic, old fashioned campsite . We are often described as wild camping with facilities. I have read your comments carefully, we do mow along the hedge line regularly and there are several (wider than a car) tracks to where campers pitch up, so there is no need to walk in anything other than the tracks (very short grass) unless you want to. To keep the mown areas really short we usually mow weekly however because the weather keeps coming in damp we have been able to mow for the last 10 days, if we had our campers would have walked damp mown grass back into their tents or van. As soon as the weather improves the mower will be in operation. Sorry you didn't find a spot flat enough for you, as far as I am aware you are the only guest to say this.
Best wishes for the rest of your summer. With the greatest respect, I think you would enjoy a more manicured campsite with designated pitches, these types of sites will have by the nature of them much less biodiversity than you will find on most pop up campsites which are located in farming, rural areas.
Yours sincerely,
Hazel
