Unpowered grass tent or campervan site (sea view, sloping)

Liked: Beautiful views, nice clean facilities, lots of entertainment for the kids, bar and pizza place for the evenings, really nice food. Farm animals on the campsite.

Disliked: Only thing I could mention is that the goats little house could do with a cleaning out. Customer service weren't very chatty.

Liked: Opted for sea view pitch and it was stunning. Very clean site with lots of extras such as cooked breakfast to take back to your pitch. Who wants to cook when your having a break. It was scrumptious. They also did pizza and Sunday roast.

Powered grass site

Liked: Good tent pitch sizes, clean toilets and shower rooms and lovely views.

Disliked: Not many toilet facilities as they’re unisex, so queueing is likely. WiFi can be slow and night time but that’s expected as that’s the most popular time for phone checking.

Allocated unpowered grass tent or campervan site (sea view)

Liked: Brilliant campsite. Beautifully maintained. Gorgeous sea views. Easy to find and activities nearby. Beach was fun to visit. Lots of steps to reach it, but my 3 year old managed them so can’t be too hard! Facilities were perfect, always toilets/sinks available. Mexican night was handy at the restaurant and reasonably priced.

Local attractions

Time to tick off the North Devon coves and harbours? Start with splendid Combe Martin (five minutes’ drive), a seaside resort with a sheltered cove for peaceful days on the sand. Surfers might want to slide on over to Saunton Sands (half an hour), while those seeking scenic clifftop hikes will get on well with the Valley of Rocks’ (35 minutes) wild goats and sea views. Take off on a fishing trip or a sea safari from Ilfracombe Harbour (10 minutes). Lundy Island is one of the most popular tour spots for such boat trips. There’s a working lifeboat station in the harbour too if that sort of stuff entertains you. Once you’ve checked out the lifeboats, turn back time a little with a trip to Arlington Court (20 minutes), a National Trust site with a Regency house and a carriage museum. Or perhaps all the way back to the time of dinosaurs? Kids are likely to love the life-sized dino models at Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (10 minutes) and its zoo and fossil museum.
