  • Relaxed and dog-friendly park 10 minutes' drive from Widemouth Bay
  • Dog exercise area and mile-long dog walk on site
  • Peak season bar serving pub meals and drinks
It’s safe to say that Hedley Wood Holiday Park is one of the most animal-friendly sites around: it has facilities just for canine visitors, and is so dog friendly it was lauded with an award by the Kennel Club. Message to Fido: dogs are very welcome here so bring your mates, as the exercise area, mile-long dog walk and shelves full of pooch produce in the shop will get tails wagging. You can even pretend to let them choose the pitch: sheltered, open terrain or sea views (they do like to think they’re in charge, after all…) This is a well-equipped site: there are two modern toilet and shower blocks with free hot water, facilities for dishwashing, laundry and a shop for vittles and other camping essentials, and a play area with climbing frame and swing. (If you're having a lazy evening in, the team recommends Freesat TV on park as the TV signal in the area is intermittent.) Foodwise, the Woodman bar serves up pub favourites during the peak season; kids' meals, desserts and hot drinks are also available.

Camping pod

Liked: Lovely swimming pool. Friendly staff and fun evening entertainment.

Disliked: Over priced restaurant food, not worth the money. Pod wasn’t cleaned well, still clothing and rubbish from previous guests. Awful outdoor washing up facilities.

Liked: A lovely peaceful site set in the countryside near Bude. We stayed on a touring pitch in our motorhome but had full use of the swimming facilities. Everywhere was very clean and well kept and all the staff were super helpful and welcoming. There was a bar and a shop too. Great value.

Camping pod

Liked: We went to 1 have out frist family holiday with our toddler and 2 to celebrate my 30th, had an absolute fabulous time. Loved every minutes, we stayed in a Pod which are so lovely 😍, toilets and showers were clean. The swimming pool was great fun. The restaurant is so beautiful and really enjoyed the food we had. We have just booked to go back un October this time in one of their caravans for 7nights which will be fantastic!. I also loved so much that upon checking out we received Forget me Not seeds aww this absolutely made my day I love that you do this. Something so simple yet to me was perfect. Thank you for our short stay looking forward to October.

Local attractions

Guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to brilliant beaches around: Bude (15 minutes' drive) has two of the best in Summerleaze, which has an open-air sea pool, and Crooklets, a popular spot for surfers. Other good options nearby include Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven (rockpooltastic) and the National Trust’s Sandymouth Bay with its own waterfall. Trebarwith Strand and Westward Ho! are little further afield at 30 and 45 minutes away. Top ideas for day trips include the castles at Tintagel and Launceston, the pretty cobbled lanes and ancient harbour of Clovelly (cars are banned in the village, but there are plenty of donkeys), the Eden Project’s exotic architecture – and contents, Padstow Harbour (famously home to Rick Stein and his multiple tastebud-ticklers), the romantic fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac, and Bodmin Jail, a historic civil and naval prison which is now a museum, and is famed for its ghost hunting opportunities. There are three adventure parks for kids in the area: Trethorne Leisure Farm, which has lots of cuddly farm animals, indoor sliding, bouncing and climbing, and outdoor action including pedalos, crazy golf and electric cars; Atlantis Adventure Park (handily located within the the Atlantic Village shopping outlet…); and the Milky Way Adventure Park, which has rides and rollercoasters, assault courses, live shows and falconry displays.
