  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

What customers say

Big, neat park with heaps of room on sites and ripper facilities – clean loos, a pool, great for dog walks. Staff are legend. Good value and heaps of stuff, though some reckon the Wi-Fi's a bit dodge, some sites aren't flat, and loos can get a bit grubby when it's packed. Families love it.

Liked Liked the various facilities this site had to offer. Pretty central to our stay and on a whole was pretty good.

Plenty of shower and toilet cubicles in the blocks that where clean.

Decent size swimming pool that was well heated.

The park itself was clean and tidy.

Disliked Pitches where at such an angle it was not possible to level off a motor home with the standard levelling ramps.

Toilet block didn't have its loo paper replenished until I requested it.

Swimming area needed a dam good clean. During our stay (3 days) it never got cleaned. Hair everywhere, foot prints all throughout the changing rooms and bits floating in the pool.

Shop could have done with some more stock but appreciate it may have just opened for the season.

Lack of somewhere to plug in a hair dryer in the toilet blocks or the changing room in the pool. The mens changing room had a hair dryer but not the ladies.

Camping pod

Liked Pretty site in great location. We stayed in a pod and it was great

Disliked We paid for the WiFi but it kept disconnecting.
The entertainment could be better and the main barn was looking tired.
The swimming was free but the changing facilities were really poor and didn’t feel at all hygienic.

Liked Nothing

Disliked Dirty showers and toilet blocks. Broken door locks, no toilet paper or working flushed or hairdryers. Shop on site extremely poor not even a loaf of bread or pint of milk, fridge freezers were empty shelves empty. No fresh produce at all poor selection of sweets for the kids. Children’s activities very poor miss sold aqua inflatables session £29.50 as not on that day it was paid for, no lifeguards at the pool, not manned, strong smell of urine throughout. Toilets out of order, disabled toilet needed wellies as thd floor was full of water and urine approximately 3 inches deep.. build a bear experience very poor what cost £30 was over in 5 mins as staff had no idea how to interact either children, all activities finished by 4 pm and didn’t start until 10/11 am. Chip shop expensive and very poor portion sizes, very overcooked cold food. What used to be a beautiful site to stay at is no longer. This Easter was ruined for us such a waste of time & money. We will never go there again.

Liked The pitches were of a good size and the facilities were clean and well maintained

Disliked The site has lost its family feel. The site has become commercialised and it feels the touring side is of no interest. We had a loss of electric on our first night and information was poor and no concern over wellbeing. Then we woke up on the following morning with the electric off again. No contact from the site staff. Having used this site for years. I certainly won't be using or recommending this place again.

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more specis to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
