  • Peaceful farm site in Pityme, with views over the Camel Estuary
  • A couple of miles from beaches and watersports in Rock and Polzeath
  • Cornish cream teas available in the gardens on select days
What a cracking Cornish spot – views over the Camel Estuary, a family-friendly pub within walking distance and just a couple of miles from beach times and watersports in Rock and Polzeath. As if that wasn’t enough to tempt you, Blakes Keiro Farm Caravan Site, just outside Pityme, is also the home of Nana’s Cream Teas (open Thursday to Saturday, between 1pm and 5pm), where you can slather jam and cream (in that order) on scones while gazing out over the gorgeous views from the garden. Foodies who’d like to do more local feasting are within a few miles of several fab restaurants and chippies, including celeb chef haunts in Padstow and Port Isaac (which may well also be familiar to those who’ve ever watched Doc Martin on the tellybox). Working up an appetite for such treats is easily done: the farm itself has four public footpaths, and you’re also within easy reach of the South West Coast Path and the traffic-free Camel Trail for riverside walks and bike rides. Golf and fishing are a couple of miles away in Rock, and easy access to the A39 means lots of top attractions are a cinch to reach too. With all this to keep you busy by day, you’ll no doubt be needing a peaceful place to rest your head of an evening, and that’s what you’ll get at Blakes Keiro – no activities or ents laid on here, just some basic facilities in the form of a toilet block, and plenty of space to chill out.

What customers say

A peaceful, well-kept park with roomy, flat sites and great country views. Reviewers rave about the friendly owners, easy self-check-in, and prime location. New facilities are almost ready, set to improve things, though some note older showers are dated, and speed bumps on entry.

Liked Great location close to the coastline. Nice and quiet. Great pitches on a big open field. Stunning views. Lovely friendly owners. Great price.

Disliked Road leading up to the campsite could do with some new gravel/stones. The toilet block is new and in good condition but could benefit from daily cleaning.

Liked Great location, spacious pitches

Disliked Toilet/shower block is dirty - didn’t appear to have been cleaned in the 4days we were there. One day had a fresh smell like they had cleaned but everything was still so filthy so I’m not sure what actually gets cleaned when they do go in.

One of the owners lost it at us, shouting in my husbands face in front of our children. We had stayed last year for 2 weeks and didn’t even come into contact with them and really enjoyed our stay. This year my husband took our 3 sons to shower and there was a lock on the main door to the shower block - as the block had 3 showers in it and there was 4 of them he locked the main door as the room was at capacity and it was safer with the youngest toddler running around for it to be locked. The owner came knocking the door which husband opened immediately and she said this is not a private bathroom you can’t lock the door. He said oh sorry I didn’t know I couldn’t lock it because there is a lock on the door - if someone had of knocked I’d have opened it. She then got very close into his personal space pointing her finger shouting don’t ever do that again etc. my 7 year old was really scared as she proceeded to follow and shout at my husband whilst he was walking away. Very strange situation, perhaps she was just having a really bad day but for this reason unfortunately we wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend. A shame as it’s close to all our favourite beaches.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to read your account of events, as it does not reflect what was witnessed by ourselves and several other campers on site.

The toilet and shower facilities are cleaned regularly throughout the day. While we appreciate that standards can be subjective, we do not accept the suggestion that the facilities were left uncleaned for the duration of your stay.

Regarding the incident at the shower and toilet block, the main entrance door was locked on two separate occasions while other campers and their children were attempting to access the facilities. This caused considerable concern, including for the parent of a child who was inside the block at the time and unable to access his son. There was also a queue of campers waiting to use the toilets. Despite repeated knocking, the door was not opened promptly. As a shared facility, the toilet and shower block must remain accessible to all guests at all times.

When we attended to address the situation, we simply explained that the door could not be locked. Unfortunately, the conversation became confrontational, and we were subjected to abusive language in front of other campers and their children. Several guests later expressed their concern and disappointment regarding this behaviour.

Finally, when you departed, a significant amount of rubbish was left on your pitch, which was reported to us by other campers and required additional clearing.

We work hard to provide a safe, welcoming environment for all guests and have a responsibility to ensure that shared facilities remain accessible and that all campers treat others with respect. For these reasons, we do not feel that our campsite was the right fit for your family, and we will not be accepting future bookings from you.

We wish you all the best with your future camping holidays.

Liked We loved the small site and beautiful views. Separate fields for electric hook ups and non-electric added to the privacy and coziness. Generous pitches and new toilet/shower block. Toilets and showers cleaned daily.

Disliked Nothing in particular. An additional shelf would be useful at the washing up sink - if two families came to do washing the space was rather tight, but it's not a major issue.

Liked Lovely owners, great set up for the wild camping. Nice mowed field to put tent in and set up camp.
Very clean toilets not far from campsite. Water was also easy access from campsite. Great walks for the dog! Plenty of space in the meadows for him to run around in. Can’t wait to go back!

Local attractions

You may need to settle here for some time if you’re going to explore all the outdoorsy options nearby. Cyclists can hire bikes in Wadebridge to pedal along the 18-mile Camel Trail, and there are plenty of walks nearby too. Rock has a golf course and a watersports centre for kayaking, waterskiing and paddleboarding. And there are the beaches, of course… try Porthilly or Brea beaches for beach games, Polzeath for surfing and surf lessons, or Harbour Cove (accessed by ferry across the river from Rock) for rockpooling and sandcastle construction. Family-friendly outings nearby might include trips to Camel Creek Adventure Park, the Cornish Bird of Prey Centre or Newquay Zoo, all of which are within a drive of half an hour or so. The famed domes of the Eden Project are around a 40-minute drive away but well worth the trip.
