On-site bar.
Local porthpean beach
Carlyon bay

  • Dog-friendly family-run site with bar and spectacular country views
  • A 10-minute drive to St Austell and 15 minutes to Porthpean beach
  • Spacious pitches with modern, well-maintained amenities
It’s all about the greenery at quiet and sheltered Tremarne Campsite, close to the centre of Cornwall: there’s masses of it in this spacious site’s grounds, and it has spectacular views over lush countryside as well. Plenty of room is all around for children and dogs to play, or for grownups to sit back while taking in the sunrise If you’ll be out and about in the evenings (perhaps at the restaurants of St Austell, slightly inland, or beside Charlestown’s harbour down by the south coast) you won’t have to go far as both are within 10 minutes’ drive of the family-run site. A beach is also 15 minutes away – the pretty cove of Porthpean – and top Cornish attractions like the Eden Project are about the same distance. It's worth heading over there to roam in the biomes, passing by plants from many different climates and environments, from desert cacti to European wildflowers; you might also like to have a gander at other green spaces like the Lost Gardens of Heligan (20 minutes) near the fishing town of Mevagissey and its working harbour. The various 19th-century-style subtropical sections that make up this horticultural hotspot are rather dazzling. Back on site, the grounds have generously-sized pitches; guests also have access to a smart and well-maintained modern shower and toilet block, recycling facilities, chemical disposal and a covered washing-up area with scenic views. And, once all those essentials are dealt with, you can grab a beer to chill out with at the on-site bar…

Liked: Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The extra touches like the hand made bunting. The facilities were immaculate. We were allowed fire pits, bbqs and dogs ( a rare combination). A really well run campsite with a friendly touch. We didn’t frequent the bar as our elderly dog was too tired after her days out but it was a lovely addition.

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: Lovely big pitch with amazing views! Kellie & Craig really went above and beyond for us.

Disliked: Only two showers and two toilets for men and the same for the women’s. Would be more appropriate to have 3 each at the very minimum.

Local attractions

To mix in a bit of time at golden sands alongside green explores, get along to the sandy Cornish Riviera beach of Carlyon Bay, 20 minutes' drive away, for swimming and watersports including jetskiing and paddleboarding. If the surf’s up, the wave-catching hub of Newquay is 25 minutes' drive away: beetle over to this buzzing town on the county’s northern shores to frolic on famed Fistral beach, amble around an aquarium or check out some of the liveliest nightlife in Cornwall. If you like your coastal times to be a little calmer, consider wandering the cliffside paths within driving distance of the park; both the Polperro and Roseland heritage coasts are within half an hour’s drive for satisfying strolls with stunning scenery. Not hankering after a hike? Closer to the site at 10 minutes’ drive, the Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre outlines the maritime marauding that went on in Cornish during days of yore. Or have an amble around the biomes of the Eden Project or The Lost Gardens of Heligan (20 minutes away).
