Par Camping: Spacious pitches

General

  • Pet-friendly Cornwall site five minutes' drive from the Eden Project
  • Indoor market, food hall and play centre a short walk away
  • Retro American-style diner on site; food pub within walking distance

Par Camping is a spacious site in a convenient location five minutes' drive from the Eden Project in southern Cornwall.

This dog-friendly spot has a dedicated dog-walking area as well as well-maintained amenities like toilets and showers. There’s plenty of room for families at this sizeable site, where you can sit in the sunshine and breathe in some of that famed Cornish air over a cup of tea or coffee.

The coast is roughly a mile away from Par Camping, with the closest bathing option being Carlyon Bay beach. Seaside trips further afield are made easy here because of the site’s close proximity to the main A390, allowing you to get to Newquay, Fowey, Mevagissey and other scenic locations.

The site is located next to the very popular Par Market & Food Hall, where you can pick up all sorts of souvenirs, fresh local produce and tasty meals from a wide range of food outlets. There’s a pub with excellent food and a beer garden a few minutes’ walk away too.

If you’d like to stay on site to be fed, take a seat at Sam’s Diner, a 50s-style American eatery (all red-leather booths and appropriate memorabilia) to feast on juicy burgers and American-style shakes.

If the kids need somewhere to blow off some steam, that’s covered as well: Kidzworld, one of the largest indoor/outdoor play facilities in the southwest, is a mere two-minute walk from the site, with fun activities for kids of all ages (yes, parents included…)

Away from base, the village of Par also has a golf course, garden centre and café.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Single-sex bookings of 5 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 5 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

    Location, space.

    Disliked:

I know it’s the first year but I think a few things need to be altered on your write up!!

The toilets, (portaloo) were above disgusting I’ve been to festivals and they didn’t smell that bad!!
once opened up the other toilet block it was bearable.

Showers 4 for the whole camp wasn’t enough imagine if site was full it would be awful. also after a few people had used them the water was freezing.

Long grass this was awful with the morning dew couldn’t really dry up as grass so long.

Car park used as a car boot (Thursdays) so couldn’t get car out car park as not allowed to park next to tent. (A lot of others did so)

Motorbike training on car park daily and early so couldn’t use exit as was told either.
Noise at night was unreal with locals (I presume) using the local roads as a race track.

Tree felling going on was told wouldn’t be very loud but they start early an workmen we’re shouting over

Told park was open for children but was always closed off and was too old for out littlest one who wanted to use but couldn’t.

Sams diner isn’t on site as was told it was.

Even our neighbours were horrendous so not a pleasant stay.

Cheap, close to everything. Shops next door

    Disliked:

Noisy, not very secure. We did suffer with poor weather and gale force winds. Toilet facilities on site were vile but the Par market ones close by were very good and clean. The site is just a bit bland. A field next to a car park which could have been anywhere in England. We were designated a pitch next to exit and didn’t feel very safe with the children. Also noisy on main road and a motorbike training centre in the car park that started early in the morning. (Not mentioned on website).

The market next door, quiet site at night other than cars racing up and down.

    Disliked:

Camping in what seemed like a field on an industrial state, screwfix, was opposite, the range/Iceland, and a few other places. The state of the portaloo’s, the smell was horrific, not enough facilities (showers, toilets) for the amount of people. Only 4 showers, if the site was full, you would wait all day for a shower. Told there were toilets at the market that could be used which was way better than the stench of the portaloos. Loos and showers were right next to the food van, not very hygienic. Have to walk across the road to use them.
Quite a noisy site with traffic at night, racing up and down the road.
Tree felling was going on behind, and the workmen started early.
On a Thursday there’s a car boot sale which starts at 7.30 am.
A lot people of people complained about the facilities.

From the manager...

Hi, we are glad you enjoyed the close proximity to the market next door. This is our first year of opening but we value all the feedback we receive. Whilst this has mostly been very positive, we are glad to receive this feedback which we have now acted on. We have opened our main toilet facility 24/7 which has been very well received with our customers. We apologise that you did not enjoy your stay.

Great location for us with play areas, market and the Range just a few minutes walk away. It was only a short drive to the beach and the Eden Project. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there was ample space and parking.
    Facilities were basic but okay.

    Disliked:

The portaloo set up wasn’t great as they were locked for half of our stay due to covid related emptying issues so not that camp sites fault. There was access to the Parr Market toilets so we weren’t without but it is a short walk which isn’t great with young children desperate to go.
The outdoor play area was a little old for our children so we didn’t use it.

From the manager...

Hi, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay and would visit us again. We have since adjusted our toilet facilities to having the main toilet block open 24/7 which we are getting great feedback on. Thank you for your feedback.
