Local attractions

Polzeath holds a magical presence and is one of the most spectacular surfing beaches in Cornwall. It is a safe family beach with RNLI lifeguards on duty daily from Easter to September. You will also be pleased to know Polzeath boasts a blue flag cleanliness award. Visitors come back year after year for generations to enjoy everything Polzeath has to offer, with its lovely golden sand and clear blue water it must be one of the most perfect spots in Cornwall for all the family. With plenty of rock pools at low tide there are lots to do for all the family, from taking surfing lessons, body boarding or just sun bathing. There is also Coronation Gardens at the rear of the beach with crazy golf, putting green, tennis court and a bouncy castle to keep the kids amused. Polzeath offers a good selection of food outlets and shops, whether you want to grab a quick snack to eat on the beach or take in fine dining with glorious sunsets from the adjoining Restaurant at Tristram during the evening. There is a choice of family friendly pubs which all serve food and occasionally offer entertainment during high season. Polzeath is the home of the original Ann’s Cottage Surf Shop where you can find all the latest designs and friendly advice on wetsuits and surf boards to buy or just hire for the day. There is a comprehensively stocked Spar shop for all your grocery needs. Local Attractions There are many beautiful towns and villages to visit in Cornwall, each with their own charms. Padstow is on the other side of the Camel Estuary from Rock, where you will find a picturesque fishing harbour and of course the celebrity chef Rick Stein with all his various café’s & world famous seafood restaurant amongst other local shops. Rock is equally famous for being the destination of choice for the rich & famous. Sailing and water sports galore are available down on the estuary. Golfers are catered for with a choice of two local courses, St Enodoc and Roserrow. Port Issac is a few miles north of Polzeath and has been seen by millions in recent years as “Port Wenn” in the ITV hit drama “Doc Martin” Wadebridge is our nearest town just 15 minutes drive. Here you find the camel trail which is the perfect place to cycle in safety along the picturesque camel estuary. Wadebridge is proud of its good selection of independent shops and you will also find the local cinema, banks, chemist and a large Tesco. Further a field, Cornwall offers so many varied places to see, from the rugged Bodmin Moor to the award winning Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan just 40 minutes away. Just down the coast is the surfing mecca of England, Newquay. Truro is a charming cathedral city and a visit to St.Ives is a must.
