Unpowered grass site

Liked: Interesting site with lots of history and a fun, different location. Lots of space and good clean facilities.

Disliked: Minor dislike that there was no toilet roll in the ladies toilets. We were only there one night so might just have missed the top up, but this wouldn't stop us from staying again.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Big open space with lots of privacy. Cheap option. Would be good for groups if you wanted to pitch near each other and not worry about close neighbours

Disliked: Showers were dirty (more than your expected mud / grass when camping) with lots of mould and build up in the extractor fans and showers and wet tissue within the cubicles

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Friendly and felt laid back. It was neat and tidy and had everything we needed basically. Not far from the beach and town. It’s quite unique being an airfield so not just an average campsite. We were went there as a couple with a view to have a look around and bring the children back which we will be doing. It has fun for both of my boys and plenty of open space. My elder son is excited about trying out the driving lessons for under 17’s.

Disliked: Not enough hot water in the showers. My shower was warm but my partners wasn’t and no toilet roll in the evening or the morning.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Such a Wonderful campsite really peaceful and secluded, but not far away from the town. Only about five minute drive or there’s a coastal path. Staff were really helpful as we struggled to pitch up our tent due to bad weather we also had a great breakfast in the morning. Facilities are good and have warm water in the showers, which is always a positive! I think there is Wi-Fi available however, this time we chose not to use it. This campsite is such good value for money as we stayed two nights and this is our second time at this campsite thank you! :)

Unpowered grass site

Liked: The team were friendly and relaxed. You could pitch anywhere in the camping area which was a good size. Our pitch was nice and level with minimal stones in the ground. Showers were hot. Cafe on-site where you could get a hot meal, cup of tea or a beer, although we did not eat so can’t comment on the food. We were close to Perranporth beach (5 minute drive) which was beautiful. There are a range of activities available to book such as skydiving and teens (under 17s) driving lessons.

Disliked: Shower and toilet facilities definitely could use a deep clean, although we did see cleaners there during our stay. Washing up area did not have any hot water. Cafe was only open 9-5 so couldn’t enjoy a dinner there unless we ate quite early. Beware if you have young children that there are kids driving lessons taking place, aeroplanes taking off etc so some hazards but it didn’t disturb us too much.

Local attractions

If nothing can beat a day at the beach, Spitfire Park has you covered: Perranporth's spacious beach is a five-minute drive down the road and has miles of golden sands, grass-topped dunes and a pretty seaside village next to it full of cafés and bars. Other resorts like Newquay (20 minutes) and Padstow (40 minutes) are also easily within your reach, as are spots on Cornwall's southern coast like Falmouth (40 minutes). You won't be scratching your head looking for family-friendly days out in this part of the world, as there are lots of kid-pleasing options about for you to choose from: Lappa Valley (20 minutes) with its vintage miniature railway, boating lake and mini golf is a more laidback pick, while for kids with endless energy there's also Camel Creek Adventure Park (40 minutes). Finding out about the local area is a breeze at the Royal Cornwall Museum (20 minutes), where you'll learn all about Cornwall's industrial heritage. For some natural history instead, Cornwall is well-known for its wealth of gardens – if you only have time to see one during your trip, make it the Eden Project (45 minutes).
