  • Rural Cornwall campsite on a working family farm
  • Polperro village and South West Coast Path 20 minutes' walk
  • Simple pitches with lovely views; well-behaved dogs welcome
You know what you get from a stay up on a hill? Wide-ranging views, that’s what… and those are certainly in plentiful supply at Hilltop Camping, where pitches are spread across five acres of a hillside above the pretty Cornish fishing village Polperro. There’s heaps of space here for you to chill out and soak up the views across the valley before strolling down into the village. It will take you about 20 minutes to wander down there to visit the model village, explore the harbour or sort yourselves with a boat trip to see a bit more of the coastline. There’s also a good collection of shops and places to eat in the village – and more on that front over in Looe, 10 minutes’ drive away. Being so close to the coast is a real bonus for a Cornwall break, as it means you’ll be able to pick up the South West Coast Path from Polperro, or venture just a little further to find gorgeous beaches and cute fishing villages like Polruan. Inland, big attractions like the Eden Project and Porfell Wildlife Park are not far off either. Pitches here are simple in style, but have access to portable toilets and fresh water from the spring on site. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but will need to be kept on a lead as this is a working farm with livestock.

Liked: The site was excellent, easy to find, clean showers and toilets, great setting, but most of all, the guys who run it can’t help you enough, woke up to a flat battery and after a call to them they were up with the tractor to get us going again within minutes, seriously recommended campsite..

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Very nice campsite, far away from the road. Really good showers we have seen so far on any campsite. Owners are very nice. Bins around and cleaned often. All was great.

Disliked: I missed the washing up area for the dishes. There was one but covered with wooden planks so wasn’t sure if I could use it.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Excellent pre-arrival communication ensured that our journey along narrow lanes was accurate and easily navigated despite towing an 8 metre twin axle caravan. Peter, Lucy & Jane made us extremely welcome. Pitched perfectly and fresh water & waste close to hand. Two shower rooms provided free hot showers. Three portlaloo too though we had our own loo in caravan. Children were encouraged to help with sheep shearing and enjoyed a full day of antics. The two goats were adored by the children and many hours spent feeding and learning from Lucy. A more welcoming, friendly and genuinely nice down to earth hard working rural farming family you will not meet. Absolutely fantastic fortnight. Polperro is 15 minutes downhill walk. Depending upon amount of delicious Cornish pasties eaten from "Taste Buds" will vary your return speed uphill. Polperro is one of the prettiest and unchanged Cornish villages. Safe swimming on harbour beach and sea swimming pool. Coastal walks to Looe. Bus services to Looe and Fowey. No complaints whatsoever I have only very very positive things to say. I am from a farming family and I guess it'll suit those who wish to stay on a genuine farm. Camping field is large.

Disliked: Nothing.
