  • Quiet, simple site along the river Lyner under Cadson Bury Hill Fort
  • A 15-minute drive from Cotehele and 20 minutes from Adrenalin Quarry
  • Coarse fishing in the site's river; barbecues and firepits allowed
What’s in the chill pill at River Valley Campsite? Well, this site has a generous helping of relaxing scenery, thanks to its remote location in a wooded valley alongside the river Lyner. With a simple-style break, there’s lots of unwinding to do, just under The National Trust’s Cadson Bury Hill Fort with walking trails in no short supply in the surrounding area. The site’s river is full of trout, salmon, sea trout and other coarse fish varieties, so it may be a good spot to get to a spot of fishing too. You’ll be well-based for water activities with a salty seaside tang too, as the site is around half an hour’s drive away from the Devon coast (and 16 miles from Plymouth) with Cornish coastal spots to the north. The site is a back to basics place, so there are simple facilities including a toilet block and portable toilet. Barbecues and firepits are permitted, as are dogs (good news for those of you with a furry family member). Part of the hamlet of Newbridge, Callington is the nearest town, five minutes’ drive away. This is where you’ll find shops, restaurants, pubs and the likes but there’s also a bakery closer by – and the A388 should you be hoping to get further away.
