  • Friendly family-run site near the Lizard Peninsula
  • Coverack village harbour and beach under a mile away
  • Sports field, games room, launderette and plenty of space for play
'In a brilliant spot' is how a gratified former guest has described the setting of Little Trevothan Caravan Park near Coverack... this peaceful and friendly family park is secludedly set, but within easy reach of heaps of Cornish attractions: the Lizard Peninsula, Kynance Cove, Flambards theme park, St Michael's Mount, Poldark Mine, the National Maritime Museum and the National Seal Sanctuary are a mere handful of top destinations easily reached from here, as well as fishing, surfing and swimming galore around the seas and sands of the south coast. Little Trevothan is among 10 acres of well-maintained lawns, hedges and shrubs, close to the coves and beaches of the Lizard Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and 20 minutes' walk from the pubs, shops and shores of Coverack fishing village for swimming and watersports. The site has a family games room and a small shop (open during high season), and plenty of space in the sports field and playground for kids to run around. Among the amenities are a washroom block with toilets and free hot showers, a launderette with washing machines and dryers, and a washing-up area. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Liked Very tidy and well kept site. There were gorgeous plants everywhere and fencing/signposts/benches were all clearly quite new too.
All the facilities were clean and well presented. There were a number of different areas to use, such as a football pitch, play area, enclosed dog park, family bathroom, toilets/showers, washing up facilities, etc. to suit all types of visitors.
The toilets were clean and quite private. The showers were warm and private. There was even a little hair dryer too!
We camped and there were a maximum of 4 others at the time we visited, and we were all spread out nicely across the field which was good. The owner didn’t just bunch everyone together without needing to.
The owner was very friendly and informative, and allowed us to arrive a little later due to car troubles which was very kind of him.
The site is in a good location with access to some good local activities/points of interest.
Definitely the nicest camp site we’ve been to in Cornwall!

Disliked Not the fault of the site/owner by any means, but there is a farm/gun range (not sure which) close by so you will hear shooting from around 7am - 9pm. Just a heads up if that sort of thing bothers you!

From the manager: What a lovely review and thank you for your photographs too.
It is good to hear you liked the facilities we offer and we are always renewing and updating, so thank you for noticing!
We are lucky here to be surrounded by lovely farmland with no roads nearby and usually this means peace and quiet, but one of the local farmers spread seed on his fields a week ago and the 'gun' you heard was the bird scarer as they can be greedy little beggers when the pasty supplies run out. Difficult to ignore if you have a nervous dog, Another guest says it happens in the fields where he lives too at the same time of year.
We hope you will visit us again.

Very warm welcome to a lovely spotless site, the showers and toilets…

Liked Great location, walking distance to nearby town and accessible to kynance cove, Falmouth and other great locations. Gentleman that greeted us was lovely, insightful and made us feel welcome. All toilets and showers were spotless, and grass nicely cut. Fantastic facilities on site with a shop selling local produce at a great price, fire wood, alcohol, games room, doggy field for dogs to run free, play park and football pitch. Pitches were plenty in size, easily allowing us to manoeuvre our tent box to catch the sunshine. 10/10 site, will most definitely return in coming years.

Liked Lovely site, not too big and pitches not too close together. Very friendly staff, and all very clean and tidy.

Disliked I'm being picky now, the shower is not height adjustable and I don't like to wash my hair every time I have a shower. They were always lovely and hot, but you can't adjust the heat also if you have small children.
Being dog friendly, being able to wash their feet would also be good.

From the manager: Thank you for staying with us and for your review. We appreciate your lovely comments.
Regarding the shower, unfortunately we needed to replace the adjustable shower fittings regularly in our early days due to damage caused. When we undertook our renovations the fixed heads were the best option.
We are pleased to say that whilst you were here work was being done to create a dog-rinse area. This will be up and running soon.
We hope we will see you again at Little Trevothan.

Sites was perfect. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Site was safe

Liked We loved our stay at this site it has everything you need. It’s perfect for everyone has amazing views and it’s a short walk to a beautiful coastal view with a lovely little pub and chip shop.
The site has a lovely park with playing fields perfect for kids of all ages.
Has a lovely little trail that is nice for kids, adults even dogs.
The site has lovely facilities warm showers and clean toilets and just around the corner is a wash room to clean up all those bbq utensils.
Also for all those forgetful moments they have a lovely little shop that has all the goods from a morning coffee to a late night snack. And for the kids that like to post and update all there friends at home they have WiFi so everyone can stay connected.
We will definitely be staying back at this site and will bring the kids and family next time as they will all love it to.

Disliked Humm this one’s hard…
This sits so perfectly and safe I’m unsure.
Maybe something for those odd rainy days like an outdoor wooden gazebo so family’s can still be outside to play cards and board games under.

Local attractions

The nearest Cornish waters are at Coverack, about a mile away, and you'll also want to have a day at gorgeous Kennack Sands, reachable in less than three miles. Spectacular Kynance Cove, a couple of miles north of Lizard Point, is part of the West Lizard Site of Special Scientific Interest and was a favoured spot of arty sorts like Wordsworth for its scenic peninsula setting. Family days out nearby include the Cornish Seal Sanctuary and Flambards theme park, eight and nine miles away; Falmouth and its National Maritime Museum, and the Poldark Mine, to try some gold panning and to see how tin miners did it way back when. Paradise Park, an award-winning wildlife sanctuary with indoor play centre, is about 20 miles away at Hayle. If you fancy a ramble or a hike, head inland to wander the banks of the Helford river before catching the ferry for a sup and a bite at the Ferry Boat Inn near Falmouth; more energetically, hike a local section of the South West Coast Path from Coverack to Helford or the Lizard, or tackle the 10 miles from Helford to Falmouth via the Helford river and Pendennis Castle. The beaut scenery of tidal island St Michael’s Mount is 18 miles away; in the other direction, the Eden Project is about an hour's drive away near St Austell.
