  • Small, friendly site on a working farm in the South Downs
  • A 15-minute drive to Chichester; 10 minutes to the nearest beach
  • Farm tours available; 10 minutes' walk to tea rooms and a farm shop
With Hampshire to its west, West Sussex to its east, the coast a little way south and the South Downs National Park, Sindles Farm is in a splendid spot for a break that’s packed full of variety. From this location just outside the village of Aldsworth, it’ll take you about 10 minutes to drive to the beach at Emsworth, 15 minutes to Chichester and 20 minutes to Portsmouth or the many events of the Goodwood Estate. Walks are definitely on the cards too, whether you’re up for a long national park hike or the short 10-minute stroll across the field to the tea rooms and farm shop at Stansted Park. Also close by is the village of Westbourne (five minutes’ drive), which has an excellent family-run bakery, a small supermarket, a fish and chip shop, an Indian takeaway and three pubs to keep you fed and watered. If you fancy doing some of your own cooking, hire a barbecue from the site for an additional fee. Logs can also be purchased directly from the site to use with your own firepit (please note that fires may not be possible in certain weather conditions). Pick this site for your break and you’ll be staying on a small, friendly site on a working farm where free-range chickens stroll around, and you may be able to spot lambs in the right season. There’s always something going on, and the owners are very happy to answer questions or give tours to give guests a better insight into the farming life. There are shower and toilet facilities on site, as well as a drinking water tap.

What customers say

Great campsite, top-notch loos and showers. Laura and her dogs are legends. Lovely views, super for kids with heaps of room. Just a heads-up on compost toilets and early farm wake-up calls. Most keen to come back!

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Sindles farm camping is set in an excellent location. Close to many interesting attractions, also not too far from the beach. It is a quiet setting on a working farm. Lovely farm dog ‘Cracker’ came to visit each day. The staff are attentive and friendly. You can purchase logs and hire a fire pit onsite. Good site for young children as there is fencing all the way around the field.

Disliked There is no sink for washing up or for washing yourself. This meant that we often saw some guests brushing their teeth and their pots and pans in the tiny Porta-loo sink, or in the shower which blocked it. No bin disposal. Small field (pros and cons to this).

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Laura was really helpful and friendly. The site is quiet and cosy with just a few others staying. We got a nice big barrow load of logs for the fire. Nice walks and attractions near by. Cracker the dog was a big hit!

Disliked The portaloos were not very clean and rather smelly, even from our pitch if the wind blew in the wrong direction. I thought from the pictures (probably just me not looking closely enough) that the very lovely shepherd's hut toilet and shower facilities were part of the same field for campers too but this is a separate field for glampers. The actual camping field is very basic with two portaloos and a shower hut. Nowhere for washing up or hand/face washing which is a bit tricky with small children.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I am very sorry that the portaloos had such an impact on your stay, I wish that you had let me know while you were here and I would have cleaned them. They’re checked everyday, and emptied weekly in order to keep them as clean as possible. The Wash Hut is for use by our glamping guests, you are correct. I have tried to make this as obvious as possible in the listings. I have previously asked PitchUp to split my listing into two but they haven’t let me. This review may help me with this! Best wishes, Laura.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Took our young family camping for the first time, this site was fab and Laura was lovely. Had a gate on the entrance which made the area secure and safe for our little ones to play. Clean and tidy with lovely views. Shower surprisingly awesome .
